It\'s probably big news back in Blighty, but i saw this one today and thought it worth a mention. It seems as though the M1 will be out of action for some time. With a pile up of this magnatude is any other course of action available, probably not. Just what can have happened will need to be clarified with the upmost rigour.
However, it is an often sited fact about motorways that the UK crash barriers are not strong enough to sustain a hit from a large vehicle at a good speed. Here in France we have enforced crash barriers that are often seperated but a small strip of ground. I have seen photos of lorries that did not manage to break through this (occaisionally the do however). What about some sort of safety feature being used in the UK????

Nope, Blair (or Bush -wink) controls the army, which does as the government wants, so is part of government. Let me put it this way, how many speeches did the queen make about iraq???
The Monarch controls the army the same as she owns all the land in england and we are all just her tenants...
Hi
I will shortly be requiring some spares for my Rover 114SLi such as doors and trim. Where is the best place to get these. What I was looking for are good second hand parts that I can order on-line and get delivered at a reasonable price. I live in the london area. I would consider new parts for some small parts if there is a decently priced Rover parts dealer that delivers at a good price.
Thanks

with a rye smile the workshop manager said , we\'ve fitted
ford life jackets in where the side curtains used to be
, ha ha ha
If he had said that to me I would have quoted his remark back to Ford HQ. As an employer I get sick of, off the cuff smart \'a\' remarks in front of customers. No brainers trying to be funny are NEVER funny. They just reveal their backgrounds.

I have sunroof and no air conditioning. Everyone else seems to have air conditioning and no sunroof.
Has air conditioning replaced sunroofs while I wasn't looking??

L'escargot by name, but not by nature.
In road works situations where a lane is closed and everyone has to merge into one, I get really annoyed by people racing up the 'empty' lane and muscling in at the head of the queue. But zip merging where both lanes are kept fully occupied and vehicles alternately access the open lane left-right-left at the head of the queue seems a more efficient and fairer solution. Assuming drivers could be educated to oprate such a system of course. Any comments? Read more
Don't believe you. Simple as that. Would you do
that with your family in the car or does your supposed
recklessness not extend to them?

whatever, just bear it in mind
Hello People!
I am after opinions and thoughts on a route dilemma.
I am fortunate enough to be travelling to the great spectacle that is the Le Mans 24h this weekend. Due to time and money pressures, I will be leaving England on the 1700 tunnel on Friday night. I have always travelled during the day before and avoided Paris like the plague, even though this route has more autoroute than the Rouen alternative. From Rouen, the last third of the journey is mostly single carriageway and whilst reasonable, is not as fast as autoroute.
I am wondering if I would be likely to pass Paris trouble-free at 8pm Friday night, or would I be better to stick to the route
I know? How about the return journey? Will be leaving LeMans about mid-day Monday.
Look forward to your thoughts
Thanks

Avoid the Paris route!!! If you do go that way use the A/N104 Francilienne way ( turn off signed near Charles de Gaulle airport), slightly longer than the inner ring road or A86 but much better for traffic.
This time for my father-in-law,
He is looking to get an Astra. He has GM points to spend so has to be a Vauxhall.
My question is should he go for the 1.8 or 2.2ltr engine???
AND
Should he get one now or wait until the new shape comes out i belive next year????
Suggestions please!!! Read more
Thanks to everyone for all your help, i will pass this on at the weekend!
Will let you know what he decides!

Shame that they couldn\'t threaten to disqualify the parents, then maybe that would convince them to persuade their 10 year old from driving. Read more

306 DTurbo 95N that has a problem setting the alarm and deadlocking the doors. This is normally achieved by using the second button on the remote which lights up ( IR style ).
The RCL (first button on remote works fine) and I know the alarm works as I was checking the fuses and off it went. The drivers door was replaced when some wassock drove into it but the repair is out of warranty. This has resulted in me not being able to deadlock doors manually as key won\'t fit.
I have checked the wires in the wiring loom of the doors and they are all intact.I know it could be cl unit but then why does the RCL work. Please advise on what to investigate. Read more
A number of things you can check to narrow down the problem ...
1. Are you sure the alarm is (or is not) being set when you press the second button? For instance, leave a back window open, set the alarm, and try to break in through the back door (lean through the window and lift the latch). The fact the alarm sounded when it wasn't set doesn't prove it is working normally.
1a. Or if you've got interior air movement detectors, set the alarm while you're sitting in the car and jump up and down to set it off. There are probably lots of other ways to set it off.
2. Can you deadlock the doors by using the key in the passenger door? If deadlocking is working you won't be able to lift the latch as described in Q1.
3. If you've got two keys, does the second key fail similarly? If you've only got one key, it could be the key's circuit board which is faulty.

Why do the carpets always peel away from the sides of the footwells on 106s, that's what I want to know. Or more to the point, how do you stick them back down again?
