There are several people I would like to chat with 'off site' particularly those with similar/same vocation (and retired). However they have chosen not to include contact e-mail addresses in their profiles - myself included, for understandable reasons. Is there anyway around this. Perhaps someone that we feel could be trusted could facilitate this. Any ideas? Read more
Depends which version:=
ZoneAlarm Pro's MailSafe? feature protects you from new viruses, worms, and other malware distributed in e-mail attachments. It also protects you from any old, known threats.

I have read in the archive that some owners have experienced problems with the CR-V head.
I am having problems with my CR-V not wanting to start. When it does the thing hunts and stalls. It is also not as eager as it was. It is on a T plate and is the higher output engine.
It has done 135000 miles. Been regularly serviced (by LEX!!!)
Is this how the head problem starts?
If so what (if any) is the cost of fixing?
Any guidance/help appreciated.

Tonight, 2100 hrs, BBC2 - worth a watch I feel after last week's excellent opener. It's about car crashes. Read more
Phew, Tom - had read that wrongly the first time around, and assumed that you were referring to your SWMBOs car number plate! And was going to ask, why and how were you watching snooker whilst driving?!
Just shows how things here can be misinterpreted sometimes...

HDI 90 on a 4k mile Picasso suffers with terrible loss of power and smoking. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to the event happening, but also while driving, the turbo seems to sometimes start too late, it also seems to go from nothing to stab in the back speed very harshly.
The other day, I couldn't even get up a small hill in 1st. For comparison, my 1.4 Xsara (see other posts) takes the hill in 2nd with 1000 revs without complaining.
The dealer has already tightened the turbo pipes, but it seems to have little effect.
Any ideas what may be wrong so we know for the visit to the dealer?

The problem was that the vacuum pipes were connected incorrectly to the EGR valve. Apparantly they are hard to trace in the confinded engine bay of the Picasso.

My Xsara 1.4 1999 27,000 miles has had a clutch cable replaced in November.
Now the clutch seems to rise slower than your foot, although there is no spippage once fully engaged. The pedal feels heavy around the biting point, balancing the car on the clutch in traffic is a chore.
Also, take up of drive is jerky and often knocks like your foot has slipped off the clutch while halfway engaged.
I do not ride the clutch or do wheel spinning traffic light grand prix.
The journey home has become a nightmare!
Any ideas whether or not we are talking megabucks? Read more
I have a certificate from the dealer for the 6mth guarantee, if it doesn't cover clutches, why to the T&C's specifically mention the clutch will be checked?
The catch is that you have to get any work done by Citroen before they give you the guarantee.

Have any of you found unusual things in s/h cars left by previous owners?.
My finds so far have been one gold tooth (which at the moment I can't find as I would like to weigh it in at the jewelers sprapyard). And the other find, after looking to see what was rattling under the handbrake was A 12bore shotgun cartridge.
Remove the back seat and you may get a surprise.
Awaiting your replys and I'm sure some of them might be x rated. Read more
When I bought my 1968 Morris Oxford in 1997, I found in the glove compartment tote tickets from 1971, made out to the first owner!

Not only that, when I bought my Renault Trafic van I was quite amazed to find the Jack and Jack Handle in useable condition!!!:-))
I know this is boring...but I am really p****d off with my Astra and wish I hadn't bought a Vauxhall! It is just over 2 years old and I usually have reasonably nice cars... It is so bad now that I want to sell this after only 6 months...what would be a good 2nd hand car to get that looks good and drives well without costing the earth to fix? Maybe I am asking the impossible :O/ Read more
Ah Belfast. Happy days I've had there. The Fly IIRC
Was there anything there carwise - Eunos imports come in via Dublin I believe, so maybe some bargains?
I'm in the Bristol area, so if it's not too far to travel and you want me to keep an eye out here I will. Just let me know.
I'm conscious of the 2 way conversation and wary of Mark's wrath, so e-mail me if you like (my address in my profile for a few days only!). Alternatively, someone else may wish to bail us out by getting involved!!
Laters.
Anyone prefer a full harness to a standard 3point inertia belt?
Anyone added such a setup to a car? Is it road legal, and if so what is the easiest way to retrofit?

Driving with a full harness I found I was braking harder and cornering faster because I was located so firmly in the seat.
Bit off the usual track, but car related. Ish.
Does anyone know where I can get 1/18 or 1/24 scale model cars online in the UK? 1960's American muscle cars for preferance, 68/69 Mustangs ideally :-) Read more
Have a look at:

Mustangs available at the second of the two.
Sorry to hear that "drain fuel filter" won't work for you.
I am not familiar with the Nissan engine, so I can't give you any detailed advice. On the diesels I have dealt with, there are no filters in the fuel tank. The first thing the fuel reaches after leaving the tank is the fuel filter in the engine compartment, which should catch any debris or water passing through.
If the Nissan has a fuel pump between the tank and the engine compartment fuel filter then it will be unprotected. I don't think it likely the Nissan has a filter in the tank since you would not be able to replace it when it gets blocked.
Your only choices appear to be either pay up, or get a second opinion.
Do any other backroomers know anything about Nissan diesels?
