Is it my imagination or is the QE2 bridge queuing back to Jt 31/30 EVERY evening now irrespective of broken vehicles or shunts? Read more

By a bizarre coincidence the BBC News 24 mentioned last night that Hull is suffering in the current recession because it's road transport links are the worst for a city of it's size in the UK.

The Dartford Crossing is still **** too, and now £1.50 a throw each way.

Oddly, the government claim that the toll booths prevent congestion, rather like fags "prevent" lung disease I suppose?

Feeling a right idiot as have knackered the sump on the BMW doing regular oil change, having clocked up 6,000 miles in just over two months (2200 on the continent without fault great car!!)

I didn't get the car hot enough wasn't really thinking. The plug was quite stiff to undo and when I put it back in will not go tight and there is now a constant drip!!

Hasn't leaked too much in the 500 miles since the oil change (Sunday) but I hate seeing it leaking, have been to Halfords and have purchased some gasket sealer (any good??) as will have a go at at least stemming the flow at the weekend. Obviously I am going to need a more permanent solution new sump/retapping the sump please any suggestions would be helpful also if anyone can recommend a good BMW specialist in the London area it would be very much appreciated.

BTW a mate has had the same problem with his E30 320i as this! so not un common. Read more

The government says they want us to use cars less to save the environment and hence all the motoring relate taxes fines etc.fines etc. Local councils say they want us all to use public transport to ease congestion etc. and would like us all to walk around in town centres. Given the enormous revenues derived directly and indirectly from drivers, what would happen if we all called their bluff and did what they say they want for a while ? I think they'd soon start encouraging us to get back in our cars !
Likewise new car prices - what would the manufacturers do if we all refused to by a new car starting tomorrow ??? I bet the rip off prices would start falling PDQ ! Read more

Hello all

I'm intending to fit a towbar to a Pegueot 405 estate tomorrow. It's not my car, so any blunders would be particularly embarassing. Advice welcomed, especially -

Will I have to drill holes, or just use the bumper mounts?
Is the electrical side tricky? (Single point only)
Is it true that an audible buzzer must be fitted to the indicator circuit; I'd rather leave that out.

Fitted a TowTrust tow bar to a 2003 Primera P12 last week.

The kit was very good and was fully inclusive of all items. However, removing the rusted on bumper trim and chassis items took a long time. Reassembly also took a long time as some of the fittings were difficult to reposition....

Has anyone any tips on clearing out the sticky gunge blocking up the airways in my 6-month old radiator? It seems to be a mixture of squashed flies and grass seeds. I have tried hoovering from the front, and blasting with a hose from behind, but neither is very effective, and the fins are easily bent which of course just replaces one problem with another.
Is there some product that will disolve the mess and make it water-soluble? Read more

I remove them from the radiator and the bonnet without any damage using my "karcher" power washer.

Has anyone used either the AA or Hometune for servicing?

There are no prices on the AA site, but hometune quote £ 99.95 for the premier service

Has anyone used any of these outfits? Can they be recommended? and if u used the aa how much did u pay?

I paid £133.99 for a full service using engine flush and Mobil 1, followed by a coolant change. Less 10% members discount this was £120-ish. The service is good - they do what you ask, but do plenty of checks too. I thought I'd need brake fluid but they checked it first and the boil point was better than DOT 5!
The list of checks and things they've noticed is reassuring and they will let you know of any parts which may need replcing at the mileage.
One thing is they don't always have less-needed parts e.g. I had to pay £18 for a fuel filter from Peugeot which was fitted for £5 locally. Other than this I'd recommend them.
As for Kwik Fit (Home Tune) I used these for a cambelt change because the local garages seemed to be quite busy and I was starting to panic when I realised it was overdue. Took 30 minutes. Cost £90! Probably same story in any garage though.

How do you remove the mouldings that are attached using double sided adhesive tape?.
As my main Honda dealer has made such a mess of fitting the corner mouldings to my Jazz I have decided to fit the replacements myself.I have already fitted the side mouldings.
This has been ongoing for the past 6 months during which time they spent trying to produce an acceptable finish to the corners "orange peel, cracking, runs and even the wrong shade!.
Any tips please.
Regards Malcolm.
P.S. Great car exept for the suspension being too firm for Country roads where I live!. Read more

Try using a hair drier to first warm and soften the adhesive, then a little petrol to clean off the debris.

I was thinking about a Sedona when I changed cars last year, but with only 2-stars in the EuroNCAP test, I wasn't going to touch it.
