I had to pay the excess for a no-fault accident, when will I get this back?

My BMW was written off even though it had minimal damage and I was not in the vehicle at the time. It was the fourth car damaged by a driver who crashed into a row of parked vehicles. My insurer told me I had to pay the excess of £345. This was back in November 2017. How long do I have to wait until the excess is returned back to me?

Have you claimed it back through your legal insurance or instructed a solicitor? You shouldn't have to pay an excess, it's deducted from your settlement. Your insurer pays the insured loss and you need to recover your uninsured loss, i.e. your excess. This is unless your insurer is recovering it back. Firstly establish who is doing what. Secondly, November 2017 is not a long time ago. Generally, you should get your excess back within three months, but it can take much much longer dependent on the insurer.
