What reliable, economical car can I get for £1500?

I have a budget of £1500 for a reliable, economical car. I have a round trip of 36, mostly motorway, miles each day for work. Which cars would you recommend?

The closest you will get will be a Toyota Yaris 1999-2005, 1.0 or preferably 1.3, but even this assumes you can find a good one. They were a favourite of older women drivers so quite a few were lightly used.
