Looking for an executive car for £6500 - any recommendations?

I have up to £6500 to buy a car. I am in my mid-50s and cover 15,000 miles a year. I'd like a car with a good drive, lots of everyday comfort and decent refinement. I'd like an Audi or BMW. Any thoughts?

For £6500 it's going to be a well-worn Audi or BMW and both have a list of problems, especially the diesels. Before you check anything out, read the entry in (used cars underneath the current models). Specifically, look in the 'Good and Bad' sections for each car. For the money I personally would be looking at a 2006-2012 Honda Civic 1.8iVTEC.
