Lambda warning light - what does it mean?

I own a Volvo 960 and the lambda warning light keeps coming on. My local garage reset the system, but the light came back after 100 miles. Any idea what's causing this?

Either needs the lambda sensor removed and cleaned or removed and replaced. There is a chance that a bottle of fuel system cleaner added to a tank of Shell V-Power Nitro Plus will clean it up, but a fairly long shot.
