It is possible to get 'pleasure use' insurance cover for non-business drivers on trade plates.

A couple of weeks ago, one of your articles implied that it was not possible to get 'pleasure use' cover for non-business drivers on motor trade policies. I thought you may like to know that some insurers offer cover for pleasure use for "unnamed family and friends" as an optional extension on their motor trade policies, so it is fairly common for non-traders to be covered on a friend's motor trade policy for pleasure use only. I am a Chartered Insurance Broker with 20 years experience and I have a number of clients with this extension. I hope this helps for future reference.

No. The point was that you are not allowed to use Trade Licenses (commonly known at trade plates) for this purpose.
