What car do you suggest for someone with two dogs?
I have a Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid. It gives me about 73 mpg and has most facilities that anyone could ask for. My problem is the size. I have 2 dogs and if I take them in this car, it is a tight squeeze for them, as it is for rear seated passengers. I did briefly own a Subaru Outback and absolutely loved it but it was so thirsty it cost me too much to run.
Please could you suggest something a bit bigger, that is higher at the front for ease of access and with a lower boot for my dogs to jump in to? Preferably, something that gives me good fuel consumption. My heart is telling me to get another Subaru, my head is telling me to look for something more economical to drive! Your real MPG facility is brilliant. I have spent ages comparing so many manufacturers, but still can't decide.
I'm 76 years old and want a car that is fun to drive at my age, not a plodder please!!

Subaru models are, unfortunately, simply not that economical, and also feel quite dated compared to much of the competition. We would have suggested the Toyota C-HR, which is slightly larger than the Yaris Cross and similarly economical, but the boot (when measured by volume) is actually a bit smaller. The larger RAV4 is only available as a plug-in hybrid.
An alternative could be the Hyundai Kona or the Kia Niro, which are closely related. The hybrid versions of each score well in our Real MPG rankings, but likely won't match the 73mpg you've managed in the Yaris Cross. If you want to go larger still, try the Tucson or Sportage from each brand.
