What's the best medium sized SUV with a petrol engine?

I only do about 6000 miles a year and would like an SUV which would take both a medium and large size dog in the boot. I'm looking at a BMW X3 or Audi Q3. My budget is only about £15k and I'm looking at petrol. Any recommendation as to the best of these and what possible problems to look out for please?

For 6000 miles a year, we'd definitely recommend a petrol engine. Unfortunately, the 2010-2018 BMW X3 wasn't available with a petrol engine in the UK, so that leaves the Audi Q3. The 2011-2018 Q3 is a good car, with a choice of 1.4- and 2.0-litre petrol engines available. There are a few issues but most of them involve diesel engines: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/audi/q3-2011/good/. We'd also suggest the Mazda CX-5 - you'll get a newer one for your money and its petrol engines are very reliable.
