2018 BMW 220d Gran Tourer drivetrain problems - what are my rights?

I purchased a 2018 BMW 220d Gran Tourer 15 months ago with a 12-month warranty. During month 11 a problem arose with engine management light appearing and a message stating 'drivetrain problems you may keep driving it doesn't go into limp mode', but it has to be revved hard to pull away each time and appears to misfire.

This only happens intermittently, often on a roundabout. Last weekend I nursed it home 25 miles, parked it for around 15 minutes, went back to run an errand and there were no problems.

It has been back to the garage four times and to a main dealer twice to no avail. After trawling the internet I wonder if it is a faulty ignition coil. What rights do I have please?

Your rights are against the garage/dealership that sold you the car.

After 15 months, you will need to prove the fault was developing or present at the time of sale. Obviously, if the car has been back to the seller with the same fault several times already, you will have lots of evidence to argue this is the case. And I would expect the seller to repair the fault for free or offer to buy the car back at its current market value.
