Why is my DSG jerky?
I have inherited a 2018 VW Polo with the 1.0 Turbo engine and DSG transmission. It's great in many ways, but is strangely jerky setting off from rest sometimes. Particularly when cold. The clutch just suddenly bites in a way that I've not experienced with other DSG equipped cars, which makes it hard to control in a parking place, or traffic and uncomfortable setting off at junctions etc. Trying to demonstrate it to a VW dealer was not really successful and they could only suggest resetting a system which apparently learns people's driving habits. I find it very unlikely that this is the problem and they wanted £150 to reset the software which I thought ridiculous. Any suggestions as to what the problem is?

The issue you are experiencing could be related to software, failing clutches, actuator failure or mechatronic faults, but without a proper diagnosis it is difficult to determine. If don't plan to take up the offer of a software reset, we would suggest looking for an independent DSG specialist who may be able to offer a precise diagnosis and a solution.
