Out of data insurance

It was interesting to read the problem A.H. of Plymouth had with cancellation of his car insurance. I recently bought my wife a new FIAT Panda Mamy. Great, till she tried to get it insured. Despite having many years NCD her current insurer (Zurich via the Post Office) deliberated for several days and then declined to insure it because she was told the model was not on its database. She contacted other companies to be told the same thing, despite the fact that this special edition model was introduced as long ago as July 2008. She finally got it insured through Michael Winner's company (Esure) without problem. The old policy cancellation charge negated any refund due to her that made insuring the Panda an expensive exercise. I have never come across this before. When a manufacturer introduces a new model how long does it take for it to appear on an insurance company's database?

Direct insurers make life as simple as possible for themselves and so
inexperienced people can operate their systems. Esure simply updated more efficiently.
