Why won't my Nissan Primera start?

When trying to start my Nissan Primera P12 it won't rev, it just splutters and then cuts out after a while. When turning it over it will start but won't rev, and when I drive off it just splutters and and jerks, and it won't let me rev more than 2500rpm. Sometimes, when I stop and turn it off, it starts and drives like normal. Any ideas?

There could be a number of things that could be at fault, including the cam sensor, the crank sensor, the MAF (air flow) or the coil pack. However, before addressing any of these components you should get the car to be diagnostically checked. This should give a code, indicating what the fault is.
