DPF and fuel consumption

I had a DPF filter regeneration last week at an authorised dealer garage and I have noticed increase of fuel consumption from around 11 l/100 miles to 17 l/100 miles. Is that normal? If not what they could have done wrong?

This reads as if regeneration is taking place continuously and that's what's burning the fuel.
