Can electric cars be towed?

If an electric vehicle stops, for what ever reason, mechanical or run out of power - is it true they cannot be towed?

Kind of. EVs have very few moving parts so mechanical issues that'll cause them to stop are rare. If they run out of electricity, most will go into a reduced power mode, allowing you to limp to the hard shoulder before coming to a complete stop. The latest stories about this in the press are little more than scaremongering.
