Need a reliable used car for £3000 - any suggestions?

I am looking to replace our trusty old Nissan Micra. I would like a small car that's cheap to run and very reliable. I have up to £3000 to spend.

A Toyota Yaris might be a good choice. They're very reliable and your budget will get you a tidy example from around 2010. I'd also look at a Ford Fiesta with the dependable 1.25-litre petrol engine, or something smaller like a Kia Picanto.
