Castrol TWS synthetic oil - BMW 4 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I understand BMW are recommending Castrol TWS (10W-60) for use in the M3 & M5`s, because of excessive oil consumption using the ultra thin SLX (0W-30). Have Googled a search without much success and was wondering if any B.R`s know what sort of price this oil retails in comparison to SLX.?? -

Renault Twingo - Arnold Clarke will not do body warranty inspection 16 Oct 2020 (Forum)
Bought our Renault Twingo Dynamique S brand new via my son who worked as a salesman at AC Renault. It's a MY 2016 but registered late 2015. Due to retirement and latterly the 'lockdown' it has only done 792 miles since its last annual service in November 2019. -

Friends now reunited 8 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Why such superb form, here though - in only 60 yrs? Only standing well back, do you see the true complete form of the upper canopy - It`s a truly massive Lombardy Poplar - and the `penny drops` re the growth. It`s been able, with a Poplars root growth - to push well into the Victorian part of the cemetery - and perhaps into the newer sections - while the Beech trees have not. -
VW Touran - A user review 16 May 2004 (Forum)
After 2.5k miles, and one trip to the dealer for a couple of minor niggles, I am still happy with my purchase, and would recommend it to anyone?s short list. Model: Touran 1.6FSI S 7 seat Registered: March 04 What?s Good: Space, Versatility, Noise Levels, Comfort, Equipment levels, Safety equipment, Handling. What?s not so good: ?A? pillars big, some minor niggles (fixed by dealer), CAN bus system makes fitting accessories expensive, handbrake ? -

n/a - Essentials of good service. 29 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Some sort of up to the minute vehicle engineering consultancy run by lots of degree level business advisors with MBA's? The truth is rather humbling. It's in the foreword to the Ford Model T service manual published by Ford Detroit. It's not dated but is probably printed around the 1920's - a hundred years ago! If you want to read it in it's entirety of over 300 pages it details such service actions as taking up main bearing caps with a file and straightening sprung con-rods with a straightening bar. -
Ford Focus Mk2, 2007 1.6. - Recommendations, please. 7 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I'd like to avoid "pig ugly" too, if possible. I've looked at newish Fiestas but the 1.6 Zetec S, which is the model from that range which I'd want purely for the power, is just too expensive and most of the good examples are with main dealers. Same goes for the other car I've been looking at: the third generation Focus from 2011 on. -
Mercedes E320 - Ford or Mercedes 5 Nov 2016 (Forum)
He buys luxury rather than sporty, one or two owners, full dealer history. At the moment he has a 52 reg S class which has just gone through a service without one additional penny being spent on it. I've heard the argument that an 8 year old £50k car may be cheap to buy but still has the running costs of a £50k car but I must admit his point of view seems to have a lot of merit. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1997 1.3 idle and drive issues 16 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Increasing the throttle only causes the stutter to get worse; eventually the power does come back. Or I have to put the car into neutral and use full throttle until full revs come back. It?s almost as if the engine was seizing or fuel mixture running way too rich; the latter of which explains why increasing the throttle worsens the problem! 5) On disconnecting the throttle position sensor, the idle drops 100 rpm to about 860 rpm, but symptom 2) becomes a lot more noticeable and if you come off the accelerator fast enough, the engine cuts out. -
DMF's and the van connection 14 Jul 2008 (Forum)
There's advice to start the vehicle rolling on tickover and then to make the smoothest of changes, which is admirable, but i for one would be bored to death in minutes, and large cities would grind to a halt, and i'm sure that 99% of drivers would be the same. Do the likes of the Ford transit and its peers have DMF's? If they do, how come they aren't falling apart all over the place with disgruntled owners jumping up and down and shouting from the rooftops. I drove transits back in the 70's, they used the V4 petrol which in its high compression form in the Ford cars would blow a head gasket very often, but in LC form as fitted to transit would last years. -

Unsprung Weight theory 12 Apr 2004 (Forum)
The matter of Unsprung Weight was recently mentioned in a Discussion thread about the De Dion suspension and it brought to mind my own introduction to the subject. The following story will eventually get to the point! I bought a Ford Special (kit car) as an uncompleted project in about 1965. It had a lightweight fibreglass body mounted on a 1930's Ford 8 chassis and suspension. The suspension comprised two transverse leaf springs, one front and one rear, and it had feeble lever-type dampers. -
