Is a blown fuse causing my Ford Mondeo's air conditioning to malfunction? 11 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)
I have a Ford Mondeo Ghia 2001. The air conditioning was working, then started to blow warm, so I got it re-gassed. Then it blew cold for a couple of days,... -
98/R ford escort 1.8 gti - locking/unlocking and alarm trouble. 22 Jul 2010 (Forum)
hi all, ive just bought an escort and i am having trouble with the alarm. i unlock it via the passenger door (as the drivers door wont unlock) and the alarm will go off, i shut the door and lock it again to turn the alarm off then try again. it usually works on the second attempt but today it went off for ages. ive tried using only the passenger door to lock/unlock the car which seemed to work for a little while but im now back to the alram going off. it only has 1 key so im wondering if getting a new key cut would be the answer, i know fords have a tendancy for their keys getting worn out which i think is why the drivers door wont open? but would this affect the alarm? also im wondering if there is a way of telling if the car had a remote at any time? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 05 2.2 Misfueled with 3.4 litres of petrol 18 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Have driven the car 8 miles back to my house without any ill effects. Can you please advise if I should take it to my local Ford garage to drain the tank ? The AA's website says that adding less than 10 % of petrol should be ok providing you fill up with diesel before starting the engine - I calculate that 3.4 litres is 5.8 % ! -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 2.0 Diesel DPF and driving modern diesels 16 Jan 2010 (Forum)
As my next car will probably be a diesel I need some advice. Looking at 1.6 to 2l diesel- Renault clio, Puegot 207, Ford Focus or similar. I would go for the BMW 318 or 320 D but too expensive for my cash purchase. I only do about 15k/annum and I think I may be better off with Petrol. Do they/the car tell you when you NEED to regenerate the DPF, or do you need a regular Italian tune up, which defeats the purpose somewhat. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 Can I fit 15" rims 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I am looking at getting some winter tyres on smaller rims than the current 205/55/R16 so I can have a narrower tyre. I spoke to Ford and they said they couldn't be sure if a 15" rim would fit on the Mondeo and I would have to 'just try it'. I don't want to get some to find they foul on the brakes. Does anybody know if 15" will fit and what other car I can get 15" rims from, i.e. will focus rims fit? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 05 2.2 Rear Wheel Camber 3 Dec 2009 (Forum)
When looking at the rear wheel /tyres with the car on a ramp today there is a pronounced camber - they certainly don't look right to my ignorant eyes ? After searching around I have found some references to this sort of issue with Ford Mondy estates- can anyone provide more info on why this has happened and advise of a good garage in the Keighley/Bradford/Leeds area who can re-set the tracking - camber etc. Many thanks. Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 94 Door lock actuator loose - unable to open door 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The drivers side door on my Ford Escort is utterly jammed. Have the inner door trim removed, so can access some, and have managed to bend the plastic lock cover back to feel the workings of the assembly. The door latch actuator in the door panel is fine, and the door opens a fraction. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 Intermittent poor first gear acceleration 20 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Having had one problem solved on here today, thought I'd try the other one. My 1.6L 2002 Ford Focus Zetec has developed an annoying intermittent problem - only happens maybe once/week. Will be stopped at traffic lights/roundabout, and when I come to accelerate in first gear it just doesn't accelerate - moves along at about 3-5 miles/hour for about 7-10 seconds before kicking in. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.8d Noisy engine since new cambelt 25 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I took the back to tell them the engine sounded harsh but was told it's okay basically. I took the car along to a Ford garage and got one of the mechanics to have a listen and he thought it was okay as well. The plus points are, the effect of the new timing setting is that it starts quicker from cold, immediately in fact and the fuel consumption has improved as well. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 2.2 Misfiring - Loss of power & smoking exhaust 30 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I bought this car from a main dealer just oveer 2 years ago. Not long after it seemed to have a judder at low speeds - Ford eventually after about 4 visits replaced the injectors. It has been fince since. However, on a 200 mile journey 2 weeks ago it started to misfire/judder again (initially at low speeds but now at any speed) Plenty of smoke out of the exhast and no surge in power when I put my foot down. -
Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - 03 1.3 Engine problem (Duratec) 17 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I have a 2003 Ford Ka, Duratec engine, 34000 miles on the clock. Set off this morning (with a full tank of petrol). About 25 miles or so, driving along at about 50 mph, I started noticing what I would describe as a very slight "kangaroo petrol" effect - i.e. the car would feel like it was hesitating slightly and then surge forward slightly. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 98 1.8d very poor starter......tried everything!!! 21 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Can anyone please help?! I have a 1998 Ford Escort 1.8 non turbo diesel van which in the ten months I have owned it has never wanted to start in the morning or after a period of standing. This problem is especially bad in cold weather (requiring a jump start to get it going) but after a lot of smoke and chugging, once started it will start and run fine all day if not left for too long. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1998 1.8TDi EEC V PCM 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Can I just put the loom and ECU in and connect it up to all the sensors and actuators on the engine and it will work?? Or, does a separate 12 volt feed need to be run to it?? It is a Ford EEC V PCM with 104 pin connector - though which wire is the 'live in' is the problem!! Where can I get a proper wiring diagram for EEC V engine looms/ecu's?? Cheers, Stuart. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 Engine oil grade question? 31 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have a Ford Focus with a 1.8 zetec petrol engine. The Hayne's manual for this model says that 10w 40 engine oil can be used as well as the recommended 5w 30 oil - does this mean that only performance and fuel economy will be affected and no damage can be done to the engine through the use of the 10w 40 oil. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2001 1.8 tddi estate - secondary fuel pump? 21 Dec 2008 (Forum)
can anyone tell me has this car got a fuel pump in the tank to supply the main pump, ive got flat spot at 2,800revs after that clears itself.got a diagnostic and said its lack of fuel.garage checked his diagram and its said no fuel pump in the tank, but they rang ford and they said it did,but seems very cheap £55 so my garage thinks they could be sending the wrong thing out ie some sort of gauge.if it has no fuel pump it looks like ive got to get a new main pump!! -

Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 2.0Tdci Engine Management/Fuel Problem 4 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have a problem with my Ford Focus 2.0 Tdci which I can't get resolved. Two main things happen intermittently: 1. Sometimes when slowing to a stop the engine clearly hasn't stalled but there are absolutely no revs. The gas pedal just feels like a sponge. -
Ford StreetKa (2003 - ) - 2005 1.6 Electrical/Warning Light Problem 23 Nov 2008 (Forum)
As a non mechanical minded person, thought I'd see if anyone can help on here. Any advice will be appreciated as we spoke to the Ford garage, and they quoted £160 just to run the diagnostics! Thanks for looking. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 Focus speedo problems - fixed? 31 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi All, I have a 1.8 T Ford Focus. I have been reading the forums and my Focus has what seems to be quite a common problem: * Speedo drops to zero, car loses some power, speedo springs back into life and car resumes its power * Car radio volume seems to reduce when speedo drops * When speedo is on 0 and I slow down power dies completely I have read this on so many posts this morning. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - Car broken into - repair lock 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi, I left my house this morning to find that someone had broken into my car (Ford Escort). Nothing was taken, as there was nothing to take, but there is a hole next to the drivers door lock where they forced in a screwdriver. The lock still works so I don't think I have to replace it.
