Ford Escort 1.8 diesel - Diesel fuel tank vacuum 17 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Hi, some of you may remember I had a fuel supply issue which was fixed with the addition of a one way valve stopping back draining probably due to an air leak in the non Ford primer pump/filter assembly. Just recently, I've been having a few starting problems and noticed a large inrush of air when removing the filler cap, so obviously a vacuum is being set up. In my last thread, it was suggested that the vent pipe mentioned in the Haynes manual was to allow air to vent outwards when filling with diesel. and that the red banded filler cap was vented to allow air in when running. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 TDCI diesel strange smoke when warm 23 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi. I got 2005 Ford Focus MK2 1.6 TDCI,93000 miles done. When the engine is warm and at speeds exceeding 50 miles, sometimes I get light blue smoke coming form the exhaust, but only if I take my foot off the accelerator. Then if I put the accelerator again, the smoke disapears. It is not happening every day. 1.Valve stem oil seals-NO-it is opposite situation. 2.Emission test done-OK. 3.Had it on the computer as well and nothing came up,except some turbo faults. 4.Turbo has been changed at 80 thousand miles. 5.Injectors tested-OK. 6.No warning lights on the dashboard. -
Ford Mondeo - Mondeo 04 2.0 TDCi clutch problems? 15 Jan 2011 (Forum)
The clutch feels fine otherwise, gears are easily changed, no noticable change in performance or MPG...would this sound like the clutch (or flywheel) is on the way out? It's a Ford mondeo Mkiii 2.0 TDCi 130bhp, got about 79k on the clock. I've heard the Dual Mass Flywheel is lucky to last that long, so if it was on the way out, I'll look at replacing it with a solid flywheel kit as I intend to run this baby into the ground! -

Ford Focus - Body controller ? 21 Dec 2010 (Forum)
An electrical engineer tested my wifes car today as she has been having a few problems with her car. The first problem he located was the heater pack needs replacing, which is about £15 from fords and seems easy to do. The main problems is that her rear heater and other electrical switchs dont always work and he said this was down to the body controller. Does he mean the ECU ? If so I understand the ECU is located or near the glove compartment when removed. -

Ford Mondeo III tdci 2002 - tdci injector prob, code p2338, 31 Mar 2010 (Forum)
my glow plug light started flashing, and cold start was difficult, power was down to, code p2338 came up on diag, 'above knock threshold', i swapped inj no.3 (cyl2) for another which i bought, no difference, i used the autoenginuity hardware with ford enhancement. Surely both injectors arent duff? now car starts the same, same loss of power too. Driveable but i want to sort it. Anyone else have this software? Both times when i coded the injector, also after fitting the new one, the glowplug light went out, but car would only turn over and not start. -
Ford Puma - Puma wiring loom problem - surely it can be fixed! 25 Mar 2010 (Forum)
It has been there ever since, as the bloke reckons it is very difficult to get hold of the necessary codes from Ford. He's just been fobbing me off for 3 months now. Is it really true that I may have to scrap an otherwise good car because of a couple of broken wires? Is it feasible that I could get a loom from a breaker and just swap it for the damaged one? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 98 1.25 NEW Heater Valve, only cold air? 9 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hey. I have a ford fiesta 98. I had this problem a few weeks ago, which was sorted when I had the heater control valve replaced with a BRAND NEW one. This cured my problem for around 2-3 weeks and I had glorious hot air! -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 00 1.8 Spark plugs 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I saw some with 4 cores (?) in Halfords and they were only £20 for 4. Only thing stopping me buying them is that the current ford motorcraft ones fitted seem OK. They're not worn, and they're like a brown/tan colour. The spark plug gap is about 2mm but the manual says its should be 1mm. Should I fit new plugs with the 4 cores and would that give me better mpg, perfromance etc over standard ones? -
Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 00 1.25 dashboard lights not working 28 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I read a post on here that said they can be replaced by bulbs from halfords, only bulbs there I could find were 12v (the bulbs in the illumination are 14v) and when I plugged them in and turned the engine on there was a bit of smoke from the dashboard. I've now ordred some propper 14v bulbs from ford, they are brand new but do not work either. I'm now worried I've seriously broken the dashboard. However all other illumination lights work OK and the speedo/rev counter dials etc work fine. Just cannot get the panel to illuminate. -
Ford Fusion (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.4 Water in top mounts 26 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Could seal it with something - but suspect at some point suspention might need doing - cause of rust? ;-) Any ideas? Do ford make a top-mount-cover for these? Cheers all, James -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1300 Clutch wont disengage 24 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I wonder if anyone can hep? driving along in my Ford Fiesta Encore 1.3, parked up left it in gear, returned to car, put car in neutral and pressed clutch, the clutch felt exactly as it always has (full pressure) but no drive after engaging a gear, the car will not move almost as if the clutch has jammed on. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Focus Car Manual / Maintenance Guide? 8 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I am looking for the basic maintenance guides / service book etc that you would get on the purchase of a new car and wondered if these are available to download or purchase from Ford. The kind of information I am looking for is eg on the digital display you can cycle through the menus. At present the trip is in miles but the average speed and consumption figures are in kilometres. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 Would this have done damage to manual gearb 24 Aug 2009 (Forum)
My car is a 1999 Ford Focus 1.8 (petrol) which has done 81k miles. Yesterday whilst I was driving and doing about 40-50 mph I changed down from 5th to 4th gear and as I attempted to do so I heard a grinding noise like when you don't shift it properly. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 Power steering fluid leaking? 25 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I have a 1999 Ford Focus 1.8 (petrol) which has covered 81k miles since new. Because of the age of the car I occasionally take the car into a reputable garage so that they can raise it up and look underneath for any signs of leaks. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 1.6 Removing rear brake drums 29 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I would appreciate some help on the tools required to remove the rear brake drums on the Focus II. On previously owned Fords I've removed the 4 hex head bolts holding the spindle carrier to the rear suspension and then removed the spindle assembly complete with brake drum. On this car the bolts are Torx head. Does any know the size of the Torx bit which fits these bolts? -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.6 Stereo Compatibility 18 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hi all - I have just bought a 2001 Focus Ghia. It has the factory fitted Ford 5000 unit, which I want to upgrade to a CD player. I bought a 6006 unit, which I thought would be a direct replacement, as it is shown as an option in the Audio Guide handbook. However, although the stalk control and power plugs appear to fit, the speaker plug doesn't.
