  Ford advises annual services at 12K miles. Is it worth carrying out an interim service at 6 mths/3K miles? My car, a Ford Focus, only does 6K miles/year...

  Just picked up a 51 plate Ford Focus Zetec 1.4 Petrol 90000 miles on clock. I thought it would be a bargain at £300 but the previous owener had clearly neglected it. I am wondering if some of following fault are common.  1;) Checked oil on dipstick which was fine but then on motorway Oil light started flashing butbefore I could pull over stayed on engine starte making a noise and cut out.

  Anyone else had a problem like this ? I booked a test drive with a local Main Ford Dealer for today, they knew exactly the car I was interested in & cinfirmed they had a car available to the required spec. On arrival this morning, after hanging around for 30 minutes they then advised me that the car had been loaned to Asda for the day but I was able to inspect the car in the showroom and that a vehicle with a lower spec is available for a test drive.

  If this is the case then does Ford have to build different shells for the cars as the pillar will be aligned differently depending on the number of doors the car has? Is it just the Ford Focus that has different sized front doors who do other manufacturers do the same?

  Do diesels like the sort of stop start journeys that she will be doing? Looking at a Ford Fiesta and cannot decide whether a 1.4 diesel or petrol is the best option. Any comments, suggestions, help and assistance gratefully received.

  Hi, A bit of advice please. I have a 2008 Ford Fusion 1.6 TD which needs new tyres. I like the car but find the ride to be rough. I am considering upping the spec a little bit by fitting 195/65/15 tyres instead of the 60% profiles currently in use.

  The general journeys are stop and start 10 mile here or there. On a long journey I can average 50 mpg. Based on fords figures even at 35 mpg I should get approx 531 to a tank. The car is serviced new fuel and air filters only one I have not done is pollen filter car has only 43k on 56 plate tyre pressures ok also.

  He of course accepted liability and contacted his insurers to make a claim for the repairs to our car (we went to a reputable repairer locally who estimated the work at £1000ish if a ford bumper was fitted, so said to get it done on the insurance). Our friend's insurers (admiral) have now come back to us and said that the work will cost £1700 and have valued our car at £900; therefore they are saying that it is economically unviable to repair.

  I am starting to venture on to the motorways more and more frequently with my 2003 Ford Galaxy 1.9TDi.  This, of course, reveals the principle drawback of the otherwise excellent vehicle - it's very noisy and not at all a relaxing place to be on drives of up to 8 hours (breaks excluded).

  Hi there, we have a 56 reg ford focus 1.8tdci sport and have problems in the past where the fusebox got water in and in turn made the instrument cluster go costing us a fortune to get fixed!  .................recently the car seems to be using more diesel than normal and has some power lag when you try to accelerate at times.

  It has a 60 reg. The V5 shows the date of 1st registration as 1 Jan 2011 however I have a print out from the Ford ETIS system that lists the build date as 2 Feb 2011 (which is consistent with the model since it has stop start fitted and it wouldnt have been fitted if built in early Jan) and the warranty start date as 11 March 2011 (warranty starting from the date of delivery per Ford terms).

  Hi my dads Ford Mondeo MK3 2.0 petrol estate automatic 2003 109k on clock, yesterday decided to not pull away in "D" drive, but will pull away in 1st and 2nd, and reverse is also ok, also 2nd slipps as you accelerate, Ive checked the fluid and a nice red and topped up, my thoughts are naturally its knakkered..But cant seem to find much on this on the net with answers only the same questions, any help would be great, Also I have searched a secondhand box on the net with a company called mondeo spares quite big, and sell for £350 deliverd 3month warranty, if thats the route I take, are they reasonably easy to change myself?
• Ford Focus 1.6 petrol - Dropping out of gear 16 Dec 2011 (Forum)
  We have a 2005 1.6 Zetec Focus. Had the car for about 6 years and covered 36K and always serviced by my excellent local ford dealer. Recently (6 months) the car has been dropping out of second gear intermittantly. It goes in easy enough no noise or problems, first and reverse engage without problems. It might be dropping out of third too, but I'm not 100% sure (wife's car).

  Hi Everyone, Will try and keep it brief with just the facts as have noticed other people with the same issue but more on diesel models. I recently purchased a 04 Ford Mondeo LX 1.8. While driving on the motorway i have noticed that when the fuel gauge gets to a quarter tank the car starts to loose power and splutter forcing me down the gears to a final stop.

• Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 130 tdci - misfire/hesitation....turbo? 31 Oct 2011 (Forum)
  (surprise) I noticed am occasional missfire/hesitation on accelerating, and a noise not unlike a loud fan at about 3000 rpm, not the normal turbo whine (which I know quite well), more a spin drier full of sand) on cruise, at 65, on the level, nothing untoward, hit a hill and the misfire (very slight) is there with an occasional puff of black smoke, on hard acceleration im getting too much black smoke now. (even for a tdci ford.......) its the woooshing noise thats just appeared that makes me think its the turbo, at first i thougt "split exhaust" - it only comes in on acceleration and at about 3000 rpm+ didnt need this with dad admitted to hospital 30 miles away.....

  .: 09.2003 DXA 1997ccm 100 kW BJ.: 02.2011 Ford confirm that my CMax 2.0L TDCI first registered in February 2010 is 1997ccm 100kW but they do not know what the DM2 or DXA or BJ designations stand for and they do not know if the Dates at the end of each line are Models/Types up to the dates or from the dates.

  Hello, about a year ago, the front section of the exhaust pipe on my 1998 Ford Fiesta fell off. One garage quoted me £400 for repair as they said all three sections would need replacing. As I had only bought ther car a few weeks before, I took it back to the garage I bought it from and they welded it back on.

  I have a 2000 Ford Focus diesle TD  on stariong first thing in morning takes awhile cranking 10 secs  finally starts  but only tickover for awhilw  10 secs when revs do kick in it fine untill  I try to pull away  and no power use a mixture of clutch and accelerater to get going when revs are up it is fine goes like a rocket  if I stop and turn of engine it will not start only after continues cranking and it will suddenly start up it did come right once after I switched air con  on and off but after swithing off it went back to loss of power  this method has not worked since I have changed both fuel and air filters and there is no smoke at all as if it is not getting fuel at the right time Any Ideas anybody please .
