Ford Mondeo 2.2 tdci estate - Average mpg - jimmyears
Hello can anyone tell me what mileage they get to a tank in there mondeo when I fill up the computer says approx 440 miles. If I reset the mpg reading and take it easy then I average 38 - 40 mpg. My mate has a Audi and when he fills up the tank range is 700 miles plus I'm lucky to get 400 miles from a tank. The general journeys are stop and start 10 mile here or there. On a long journey I can average 50 mpg. Based on fords figures even at 35 mpg I should get approx 531 to a tank. The car is serviced new fuel and air filters only one I have not done is pollen filter car has only 43k on 56 plate tyre pressures ok also. Any suggestions greatful.

A friend had a 2.0 Tdci Estate-it always got 44mpg. Mainly motorway driving-but brisk motorway driving.

It may seem an obvious question, but have you checked how empty the car is when you fill up (litres you can put in compared with tank capacity)? You may have one of those fuel gauges that screams fury when you've actually got another 100 miles' worth in the tank.

I have the 2.2 174bhp and even on a steady run through France only got 40 mpg. Same sort of journey last year in accord 2.2 I got 50. I guess i thought it was just as the car was bigger and more powerful. And anyway I love the car.

Our old 2.0 TDCI 130 hatch used to average about 40mpg over a year, 36 mpg in town but you could squeeze 50 mpg out of it on a long run.

These are calculated and not figures from the dash fuel confuser.

Not the most economical diesel we have ever had, at least it was reliable and comfy.
