  It bested the previous record by more than a minute.   The 875PS, 875kg all-wheel drive monster has more power than an F1 car. It’ll be joined by Peugeot rally stars from years gone by, including the 205 T16 and the 405 T15 Pikes Peak. Also climbing up the hill will be the Onyx concept car and the upcoming RCZ-R – a more powerful, sportier version of the RCZ coupe.

The Tyumen region police reported that the incident was a head-on crash between the British driver’s Chevrolet and a Volkswagen Polo. They added the Polo’s passengers, a 31-year-old man and a baby died while a woman is in intensive care in hospital.

  BMW to manufacturer engines for i8 sports car in the UK 12 Jun 2012 (News)
  The i8 will use a three-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that's combined with an electric drive system to produce  349hp/300Nm.  Its 0-62mph time is said to be under five seconds, combined with the fuel consumption of under approximately 78mpg. The all-electric mode has a reported electric range of approximately 20 miles.  Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “BMW’s decision to produce engines for their i8 plug-in hybrid sports car at Hams Hall is more good news for the UK automotive sector and underlines its growing competitive strength.

  Michelin has launched an online service that allows motorists to leave reviews of tyre dealers as part of a drive to improve consumer power. Tyre Dealer Reviews  is a website where drivers share their experience of areas like service and price, as well as provide a rating out of five stars, to help fellow car owners make an informed decision when looking for a tyre fitting service.

  New battery tech to improve EV range 22 Sep 2011 (News)
  EVs can only usually travel around 100 miles before they run out of juice, and charging them is a long-winded process when you find a place to do it. But as with all technology, there’s a constant drive for improvement and a consortium led by advanced battery manufacturer Axeon has developed a new type of battery that goes some way towards removing the limitations associated with pure EVs. The project, part funded by the Technology Strategy Board, aimed to develop a high density battery specifically for zero-emissions vehicles.

  The A1 Clubsport quattro is powered by a modified Audi RS3 engine and features the six-speed manual gearbox and four wheel drive system from the Audi TT RS. From a standstill it can reach 124mph in 10.9 seconds. The car is finished in matte white, with a black roof.   When buying a car , an increasing number of newly-qualified drivers may be tempted to opt for Fiat models as a result of the group's latest venture, it has been suggested. The firm has joined forces with BSM to provide the driving school with 14,000 examples of its 500 auto. It revealed the company expects this deal to work in its favour by encouraging more youngsters to opt for Fiat cars. The manufacturer pointed out 70 per cent of first-time buyers purchase the same type of vehicle they took their lessons in and some 130,000 people use BSM every year.
