Goodwood Festival of Speed: Peugeot’s Pikes Peak record-breaker makes an appearance

Published 05 July 2013

Peugeot’s 208 T16 Pikes Peak hill climb car will be driven up the hill at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from 11-14 July. The 208 T16 smashed the Pikes Peak record at the hands of Sebastien Loeb, covering the 156 turns over 12.42 miles in just 8 minutes 13.878 seconds. It bested the previous record by more than a minute.

The 875PS, 875kg all-wheel drive monster has more power than an F1 car. It’ll be joined by Peugeot rally stars from years gone by, including the 205 T16 and the 405 T15 Pikes Peak. Also climbing up the hill will be the Onyx concept car and the upcoming RCZ-R – a more powerful, sportier version of the RCZ coupe.

The 20th Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off on Thursday 11 July with the Moving Motor Show, before the festival proper begins on Friday and continuing over the weekend. Hundreds of modern and classic cars and motorcycles will be on display, with many sprinting up the hill climb route.
