Goodwood Festival of Speed: SEAT Leon Cup Racer to take on the hill

Published 05 July 2013

SEAT’s Leon Cup Racer will make its UK debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed and it’s set to take on the hill climb. The Leon Cup Racer is a purpose-built race car designed to show how committed SEAT is to motorsport. It’s currently a test vehicle for development work, designed to show what a SEAT cup car machine would look like.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 330PS, which turns the front wheels through either a DSG dual clutch gearbox or a six-speed sequential racing manual. Racing teams can register their interest in the car, with prices starting at €70,000 plus taxes.

SEAT is also showing some of its production models, including the Leon five-door, the Ibiza Cupra and the Leon SC three-door, which goes on sale shortly after the Festival of Speed. It’s available to drive on at the moving motor show on Thursday, which makes it a good early opportunity for those looking to buy.
