Mitsu Colt-Leaking brake pipe...options? 29 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, Noticed when my car was up on lift at National having an oil change (its a 1993 Mitsu Colt), that one of the metal brake pipes near the rear offside wheel is leaking slowly. I have been needing to top up every few days lately, but thought it would be a leaking brake cylinder! Just wondered if its possible to put a sleeve on it, or any other type of repair, or is it a new pipe? -
307Xsi Rear Brake Pads Fitting 15 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I've fitted brake pads on older Fords in my time but not something like this. Is this easy to do? Do I need any special tools? Or is it a case of removing the wheel, removing some caliper clips and replacing with the new part? -
"New" auto car 11 Sep 2006 (Forum)
It’s got the auto tip box on it. When waiting at lights do I put it in neutral and put the hand brake on (as I do at the moment), or do I just sit there with it in drive with the brake pedal down? I feel the former is better, especially if there is someone behind at night, as I hate having to look at brake lights when someone is in front of me with the brake lights on. -
BMW E39 5series brake judder 30 Aug 2006 (Forum)
When travelling at speed, mainly above 50 mph, and If I brake quite heavily, I get a LOT of wobble in the steering wheel. I've only had the car one month, and didn't notice this until I was on the M1 and had to brake from speed because of a queue of cars ahead. -
1998 Espace diesel brake problems 11 May 2006 (Forum)
1) A friend of mine has a 1998 R reg espace diesel, done about 110k almost trouble free miles, he has recently experienced the brake pedal sinking to the floor if constant pressure is held on the pedal. The local Renault specialist has bled the brakes 3 times and has replaced the master cylinder twice, but to no avail. Any ideas what the problem might be? -
Fiat Barchetta rear brake imbalance 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Afternoon all, The Barchetta has blotted its copybook by failing its ´TüV´ here in Germany, the biennial equivalent of the MoT test. Amongst other things - all pretty repairable, thank goodness - the tester reported an uneven braking performance from the rear brakes (newish discs and pads all round BTW). It´s been booked in to get this sorted prior to the retest, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a pointer as to what could have caused the problem just in case the garage try to pull a fast one, or something. -
Fiat Punto CVT servicing 15 Feb 2006 (Forum)
It runs as sweet as the proverbial nut but at 10,000 miles I've noticed a grinding noise coming from the front brakes. I'm guessing that the pads need to be replaced; although it's an auto and the brakes need to be used more, would this be 'average' mileage as it seems a bit early??? I don't brake excessively late or hard and the noise is more noticeable at low speed. -

Omega Brake Force Distribution 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I took my 2001 Omega 3.0 for its first MOT last week. It passed but on the accompanying tick list sheet they give you I was intrigued with the brake test figures. They don't give units of measurement but the fronts were 450/420, rears 220/220 and handbrake 270/280. Should the fact that the fronts are not equal be cause for concern? Presumably this could cause pulling during heavy braking or is the difference to small? -
55 Vivaro 1.9 - Brakes 26 Mar 2016 (Forum)
When driving at no particular time or distance the brakes start to gradually operate on their own. Having pulled over and waited 10 or 15 mins it clears itself. Or sometimes while driving, lifting the peddle slightly with my left foot sometimes clears it. -

WD40 - Is it OK to use on seizing brake link 21 Sep 2008 (Forum)
My son's brake linkage is seizing, is OK to use WD40 to initally free it if comes in contact with wheel cylinder rubbers etc. Then use PTFE type grease/oil for long term use as a prevention of seizing. Thanks Made (rather obscure) make/model non-specific -

Brake Pipes Micra 2000 6 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone give me an idea of the cost to replace brake pipes on a year 2000 Micra. I'm not sure which need replacing, i think its the rear ones. I am going to get an estimate from the garage but I have no idea of a cost to go on. A rough idea would be appreciated. -

Megane handbrake 13 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hello I've just changed the brake shoes on my Megane and have noticed that the handbrake lever is coming up a long way before the brakes engage. Do I have to wait for the auto adjusters to kick in before I adjust the hand brake?
