BIG LUXURIOUS CARS GOING CHEAP 20 Nov 2008 (News)
The increases in depreciation have been even greater - in monetary terms - within the large luxury coupe segment, where EurotaxGlass’s highlights an extra £9,789, or 18 per cent, off the trade-in values of leading models compared to the same point last year. The analysis covered best-selling variants of a wide range of prestige coupes, including the BMW 6 Series, Jaguar XK, Mercedes SL-Class, Porsche 911, Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin AMV8 Vantage. “A number of factors have combined to ravage the trade values of large luxury saloons and coupes,” comments Richard Crosthwaite, Prestige Car Editor at EurotaxGlass’s. -

And a top bid of £6,700 for a Doom Blue 22k mile 04 reg Mondeo 1.8LX was verging on the derisory. On the other hand, a facelift 79k mile 2001Y BMW 525d SE manual with leather looked like value at £9,300. £9,850 wasn’t out of order for a 47k mile 2001/51 BMW 2.0SE Compact in a nice colour. Yet £10,900 paid for a 32k mile 2002/52 Mazda 6 136ps diesel Sport was huge money. -

And a very clean 34k mile but 99T reg and horrible green BMW Z4 made £800 more than reserve to go for £11,800. The bargains are there. Slightly better bargains were a 55k mile 02 reg Mondeo TDCI 130 LX auto estate, sold for £6,300; a 56k mile 2000W Jaguar S-Type 3.0V6 manual, sold for £7,400; a 90k mile 2001Y Picasso HDI SX, sold for £4,100; a 103k mile 2000W Focus Zetec 1.8TD estate, sold for £2,750; a 31k mile 2001/51 Golf V5 5-dr, sold for £8,300; a 115k mile 2000W Skoda Octavia TDI 110 SLX estate, bid to £2,425; and, cheapest of the cheap, a bright red 67k mile 2000X Rover 25 1.4iL (103PS), sold for just £2,450. Other sensible buys included a 59k mile 1001Y BMW 320iSE, sold for £10,050; a 75k mile 2001Y BMW 525iSE Touring auto, sold for £10,850; a 17k mile 2001Y Nissan Terrano II 2.7TDI SE, sold for £10,900; and a 49k mile 2001Y Toyota RAV-4 VX 5-dr, sold for £12,000. -

A 99k mile 2001Y Mondeo 2.0LX was the cheapest I’ve ever seen at £3,450 sold, an 86k mile 2001/51 Jag X-Type 2.5SE was the cheapest X-Type I’ve ever seen at £9,400 sold and a 105k mile 2000W Mazda 323 1.8GSI was good value at £3k. But a 105k mile 2001X BMW 525iSE manual with leather didn’t sell at £8,100, a 29k mile 2001Y Merc C220 CDI manual Classic made a strong £13,300 and a 94k mile 02 reg C270 CDI Elegance auto hit a Herculean £15,500. -
Some Cheap Cars at Auction Today 12 Dec 2003 (News)
And £13,050 close to lunacy for a 20k mile 03 reg Golf TDI PD 130 (£13,999 new at the supersites). But, as a foretaste of what’s to come on Monday, a 58k mile 2001/51 BMW 330d Sport auto sold for £17,700, a 25k mile 2000W 523iSE Touring auto sold for £13,850 andwait for ita 94k mile 99V E46 318iSE Touring almost got stolen for a miniscule £6,300. Remember, Monday’s the day for a huge 131 car BMW sale at BCA Blackbushe, starting at 11.00am. -

Top Cars Not Too Dear at Auction Today 19 Aug 2002 (News)
This brand new August 2002 registered LHD example with a mere 542 kilometres under its wheels ran out of bids at £61,000, though, in fairness, it didn’t come through until late in the sale. There’s supposed to be an 18 month waiting list for the 4.4 litre BMW V8 powered Morgan Aero 8, which lists at £55,500. Yet the 3,000 mile 2001/51 reg example in the sale hit the wall at £43,700. And surely a 9,000 mile 2001Y TVR Tuscan 4.0 just has to be the dog’s danglies? -
Explosion of Activity at Auction Today 5 Jul 2002 (News)
A new shape 25,000 mile 98S Mazda MX-5 1.8 with the glass rear window was knocked down for £8,500, making another old-shape plastic window 97R 25,000 miler look dear at £6,775. A 60,000 mile 99S E46 BMW 318iSE sold for a sensible £8,500. And an 87,000 mile 99T BMW 316i 1,895cc Compact was almost a bargain at £5,575. Vectras and Mondeos, meanwhile, continued to flounder. A 24,000 mile 2001Y Vectra 2.2 SRi 150 sold for £7,450. -
£7,650 Buys Polo 1.4TDI at Auction Today 17 May 2002 (News)
But it started at £7,000 and went on to sell for just £7,650. At the other end of the scale, a facelift 2000X BMW 525iSE auto in a nice shade of metallic blue and with 36,321 miles made a stonking £17,600. A 2000X Volvo C70 2.0T Convertible with 16,000 miles sold for £18,000. And in between, a 2000X 5,000 mile Golf IV 1.6 16v auto with a/c and in silver sold for a substantial £10,050. -
Fickle Market Reflected at Auction 26 Apr 2002 (News)
But it’s also why anything interesting and not too juicy was making the money: 2001Y Lexus IS200 SE with 11k miles, £15,400; 19k mile 99T Jag S-Type 3.0 auto, £16,600; 90,000 mile 2000W Rover 75 3.3 Connoisseur, £8,025; 25,000 mile 2001Y BMW 325i Sport, a massive £20,650; 30,000 mile 99T Peugeot 306 GTI-6, a solid £6,950. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this years buying public is stupid, either. It’s definitely not buying into fake status or dubious reliability. -
First Combined Hall and Internet Auction 3 May 2001 (News)
A clean and tidy 45,000 mile 98S Vectra 1.8 Arctic in metallic blue sold for £5,550; a silver 19,000 mile 2000V Citroen Xsara LX HDI 90 sold for £7,700; a metallic blue 60,000 mile 99S BMW 318iS coupe sold for £11,575; a metallic blue 35,000 mile 98S Audi A3 T Sport sold for £12,100; and a Glacier Green 70,000 mile 98S BMW 523iSE auto made a very strong £12,500. But new model blight meant that Mercedes previously cast iron residual values took a knock in the case of a 14,000 mile 2000W C180 Classic with alloy wheels, a/c and cruise control. -
Auction Prices Firmer; Few Bargains 4 Apr 2001 (News)
Prices were firmer at auction today as Spring demand rises and the supply of part-exchanges and de-fleetings from the March registration change start to dry up. 30,000 less miles, an automatic rather than manual box and desirable Glacier Green metallic rather than Arctic Silver saw a 50,000 mile 97P BMW 523iSE sell for £12,600, a cool £2,600 more than the 80,000 mile manual 98R which went for just £10,000. Diesels did well with a 12,000 mile 2000W Focus Ghia TD selling for £9,975, a 25,000 mile 2000V Peugeot 406 HDI 110 LX Estate selling for £11,300; a 14,000 mile 2000W Renault Scenic RT DTI selling form £10,650; a 12.000 mile 2000W Astra 2.0DI 16v selling for £8,700 and even a 19,000 mile 2000W Citroen Xantia HDI 90 LX Estate selling for £9,575. -

Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Mazda hints at sporty SUV with Koeru concept 15 Sep 2015 (News)
With the same dimensions of the CX-5, it could sit in between that car and the CX-3 to give stylish SUVs like the BMW X4 a run for their money. With its 21-inch wheels, flared wheelarches and aggressive styling, we’d say that this is a model more concerned with high-speed stability and on-road handling than off-road prowess. -
