  • 2016 Volvo V40 1.6 D drive 19 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Over styled gear knob not a particularly pleasant shape for your hand All black inside including roof lining, relentless black!. Alloy high lights on dashboard and console catch the sun. Reversing camera necessary and very useful. Not as sharp to drive as the 2006 1.6 petrol Focus I also drove. Steering and gear change better on Focus although console and gear change of Focus set up for LHD even though it was RHD.
  • Aygo review 23 Mar 2022 (Forum)
This one had everything I could possibly need, air con, climate, dab radio, Bluetooth, Android pairing , reversing camera etc etc. The 3 cylinder engine pulled nicely, with a very agreeable sporty sound, nice slick gearbox, well damped ride, decent handling, safe rather than ultimately sporty. But a lot of fun.
  • Hyundai Tucson - Advice please first big purchase 5 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I preferred the tucson, she liked the qashqai n connecta. We compromised and decided to look for a tucson but diesel version with some toys on it (reverse camera, sat nav, touchscreen infotainment system).  Budget 12-15k. At least 2 years manufactures warranty left on the car.  Ideally I'd like to keep it for as long as I can really so it needs to have a reliable engine and not too bad on fuel, but understand I won't get the greatest mpg from an suv.
  • Honda Jazz - Accident whilst teaching uninsured friend to drive 5 Feb 2014 (Forum)
My wife's friend has a provisionl licence but is uninsured, whereas my wife has fully comp insurance. The added complication is that the friend reversed into a building and slightly damaged 2 hard plastic panels.  Our car is more severely damaged, several panels severly dented, back drivers side lights smashed, possible exhaust damage.  There are cameras on the outside of the building, don;t know if they work or if they captured the accident.
  • Toyota Estima - Imported Estima vs 1.4 Sharan…or something else?!? 3 Mar 2024 (Forum)
I’m in the market for a spacious (and reliable) used 7 seater with a budget of £12,500 Must haves are: petrol, auto, heated front seats, raised seating position OR comfortable drive (due to my disability), reversing camera, room for 2 teenagers in all of the rear 5 seats (so no Qashqai+2 for ex.) but also not as big as a van styled motor such as the Alphard or Berlingo Would be nice: leather/half leather trim, tray tables to back of front seats, half decent mpg After much deliberation I’ve cut it down to an imported Estima vs 1.4 Sharan - around an 11 plate or newer, with less than 100k on the clock and good history (Verso is too small, XC90 worries me with repair bills, don’t fancy a Zafira, Galaxy, S Max, Grand Picasso, or Alhambra) Have I missed anything worth considering - such as an older X5?
  • Aping their betters 17 Jan 2010 (Forum)
What I mind is the singularly unflattering portrait of my car, stretched and flattened to resemble a huge grinning silver cowpat. This is fashion airbrushing in reverse. I will email Charlize Theron and Jordan to ask if they can recommend a decent Hollywood (or better still Philadelphia) vanity lawyer. A girl has her pride.
  • New car for Mrs Happy Blue? 24 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I think I could also tempt her into another Captur, as our family seem to like the one I have.   Any other suggestions?  She wants automatic, SatNav and a reversing camera and style/image is important to her, so suggesting a Kia Venga will not go down well.......Is a Mini Countryman a sensible option?
  • Nissan Leaf - My Leaf experience 30 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I think "P" is for when you are ready to leave the car as I needed to turn the car off and restart with the footbrake pressed. Full satnav with camera warnings, rearview reversing camera. Only downside I found was the seats which aren't very supportive.   I also didn't have time to read the manual and find out what to do when stationary for a lengthy time as I prefer to use neutral and handbrake.
  • S 280/C/Others - Mercedes Diana's Death 20 Oct 2017 (Forum)
It was the South African ones that were faining. Two had failed overnight and when the car was reversed in the morning the front wheel broke away from the wishbone and folded up into the wheel arch. The cars were delivered to the Merc dealer in Worcester where I was surprised to here from mechanic 'Its always happening'.

I was an Old Bill for 30 years and this sort of attitude annoys me, although I was always CID rather than traffic.  Seems to me that all is now dependent on cameras, etc.  The day to day dangerous/careless driving is ignored. Rant over (for time being).
  • Best MPG automatic 9 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Hi All During the period while my loved 504 cab was repaired after a lady could not find enough space in 7m to reverse and damaged the door, I was given to drive a Nissan Micra 2013 auto. I have not driven any new cars for a long time, specially an automatic.  I discovered that £30 of fuel would drive me 2 1/2 more than my 33 yo car.
  • Mitsibishi asx - Mitsubishi asx - 3 or 4? 3 Jan 2011 (Forum)
So i've been looking into the differences between the 3 and the 4 spec, which seems to come down to sat nav (not bothered - we have a tomtom for the few occasions she actually goes anywhere she's not been before), leather (nice, but she's not had it before and we're not bothered), reversing camera (useful safety feature but the 3 has beepers) - so the only other difference is "iPod control". Now the 3 has a USB socket, so presumably you can plug in an iPod and play it through the stereo, but I was wondering what control you get - I assume you can't use menus etc but with the brilliance that is the Genius Playlist she could choose a playlist at the start of the journey and as long as she can adjust volume and ideally skip tracks then that'd probably be fine.
  • Traffic Light 24 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, I was wondering exactly how the traffic light cameras work that we see on the roads. The other day, I was driving in an area completely unfamilier to me and being given directions by a friend of mine who failed to mention turn-offs until the last minute.
  • Volvo - NEW CAR 19 Dec 2011 (Forum)
All minor things like: The passengers door speaker had protector spray on it that had not been rubbed in - looking like scuff marks a loose nut rattled around inside the drivers side door when accelerating/decelerating and going round corners   foam protruding from passenger side windscreen  Scratches on the left hand side windscreen wiper   Scratch marks on the metal surrounding the gear stick   the speaker housing on front passenger door has popped out  5cent piece sized scratch/blemish at front top centre of dash board above reversing camera/ below SatNav   both back passenger side doors have irregular trim along the top  Although all minor things ... when I purchased the car it was in brand new prestine condition with only 2km on it ... now it needed repairing which happened over 4 visits back to the dealership and there were an extra 55km on it.
  • Skoda Superb - Skoda Superb 1.4 or 1.5 TSI SE Petrol via Carfile 10 Jul 2018 (Forum)
Cost £16.4k. - 2) Brand new Skoda Superb 1.4 or 1.5 TSI SE with metallic paint and reversing camera options. Apparently costs only £17.6k via Carfile with the £3k PCP Skoda contribution (which I would pay off within 2 weeks and keep the contribution - assuming this is still allowed) I like the look and feel of the Tucson, but it's hard to ignore the value of the Superb at this price.
  • Motoring in Tenerife 3 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I honestly thought it was a wind up, but no the driver just couldn?t reverse. We covered almost 500km most of it in 3rd gear or lower and the ?bus? did over 30 mpg - but at less than £2 a gallon fuel costs aren?t really a concern! No speed cameras and decent road surfaces, worst parts were actually on the motorways where parts of the surface are badly worn - not good at 120kmh.
  • Tokyo and Toyota 19 Jan 2003 (Forum)
The showroom model was wired up to display the dash and navigation system. Voice activated DVD sat nav which switched, when reverse gear was selected, to give you a view in colour from a camera in the rear bumper along with a superimposed depiction of the intended direction of reverse travel. A small button on the steering wheel could also be used to activate two corner cameras in the front bumper to help when emerging from obscured side junctions.
  • Land Rover Range Rover Sport - is the least reliable car to buy for the 2nd year 14 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Away from onboard electronic gremlins, owners of Range Rover Sports up to three years old also reported plenty of suspension issues - which tend to be very pricey in big SUVs - and recurring woes with parking sensors and reversing cameras.  The likelihood of breaking down was also cause for concern.  More than one in ten (11 per cent) of owners had to call out a recovery service at least once in the year before the survey was completed.
  • Toyota Yaris - New car - first week review 7 Apr 2018 (Forum)
6 speed gearbox – no notchiness and the clutch is very light. Cruise control Aircon Auto wipers Reversing camera Advanced safety systems using the ‘eyesight’ type technology – emergency braking, lane departure warning and road speed limit sign recognition, auto full beam system (but no auto lights!).
  • Accord Dtec Auto - five months in 25 Jan 2010 (Forum)
This is the first Honda i have had,i got an auto because i do quite a few miles 18300 thus far and find manuals too much like hard work in heavy traffic, unlike the auto which is smooth and relaxing, for a big car the Honda has a surprisingly light feel to its handling, the ride is a bit harsh and fidgety if you are looking for a smooth ride this is not it although its far from uncomfortable as the seats are the best i have had in a car. The Accord has a lot of kit ,satnav, bluetooth and reverse camera being the most useful ones day to day so i think its good value compared to others. Fuel economy sits around 40/41mpg and the best i have seen is 46mpg mixed driving. I bought this car to be a reliable workhorse for at least five years and after five months it has been problem free as you would expect,it is not the best looking car out there but who cares it fits our needs as a big functional family car.
