French put the brake on classic car parts 15 Jan 2002 (Forum)
However, they said they would not be ordering any more when the present stock runs out because "Citroen will only accept orders of at least 10 sets at a time". If this approach is used by other car makers and if the pressure for asbestos-free parts increases, I see little chance of either OE continuing for older cars or it even being worth the while of non-OE suppliers tooling up for the alternatives--one of those I tried for the Visa pads (listed but all sold) was a frequently-recommended national specialist for Cits and certain German motors. -
Bought another cheapie. 8 Jul 2025 (Forum)
It even came complete with weird old pensioner steering wheel cover, an extra I love to see. The dealer has previously sold the car and has asked for its return when we no longer need it, promising a decent price or a commission sale on our behalf. Though I’ll probably have a pop at it myself as it’s likely to be an easy sell. -
Should I buy a Ford Focus with a history of problems? 23 Aug 2021 (Ask HJ)
I'm interested in a 2012 Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost that's covered 52,000 miles but has had a replacement turbo and dual mass flywheel. Should I be wary? -
MINI Cooper S R56 - MINI Cooper S Timing Chain Failure 21 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I'm wondering where i stand with regards to warranty. The car is out of it's 3 year manufacturer warranty, and i've read that BMW/MINI parts come with a 2 year warranty, but only if you pay for them, if it's done under warranty, this does not apply, and they are only covered by the cars 3 year warranty. -
Cmax grand - Ford C-Max grand won’t run 12 Mar 2019 (Forum)
The mechanic installed the engine but the car just won’t run, it cranks but does not start, mechanic then gave me a bill for 450 because it took an extra day (even though it does not work ??) another mechanic now has car and has changed the fuel pump and injectors have been primed, various sensors and senders replaced, swapped the fuel injection pump and injectors over and it still doesn’t run. -
HJ Answer PCP 16 Mar 2018 (Forum)
The registered owner does not wish to return the car and end the purchase agreement, however, no insurer will offer cover to a dementia sufferer whose licence has not been renewed by DVLA. Is there any advice you can give me? Answered by Tim Kelly You can only do anything with the consent of the owner. -
Ford Focus 1.6TDCi 105PS - 2013 Focus DPF problems 2 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Anyway its finally booked in to an independent garage on Tuesday but I'm concerned that because the EML is not on now that they won't be able to find any faults. Does this sound like the DPF is full or some other problem. I should add that the car gets two or three motorway journeys per week covering a minimum of 400miles. Thanks Rich -

Is my Vauxhall Zafira going to be reliable? 3 Oct 2012 (Ask HJ)
I have heard that the Zafira's 1.9-litre diesel engine can be a disaster zone. I am now worried as I bought a 20-month-old 1.9CDTI automatic one year ago... -
Renault Laguna Estate - Renault dealer dispute 9 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I have their courtesy car again. Last week the Service manager called me to say they had indentified the problem and it is a cracked sunroof cartridge, which they say needs to be replace at a cost of £2700. They suggested I make a claim on my insurance to cover the cost. -
Mazda 6 - 06 plate 2.0 TS - Mazda 6 - DPF help :( 27 Apr 2012 (Forum)
mazda agree with this and will cover the charges for parts and labour wahoooo :), HOWEVER mazda think that seeing as the car has only done 20k since the last new DPF they think its a problem with injectors which cost about £600+ each and there are 4 of them little b*****s!! -

Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 1.8TDCi Locating turbo-intercooler pipe? 30 Oct 2009 (Forum)
So I took it into the local garage and they identified 2 faults that had been logged - one with the Turbo, and the other with the Fuel Pump. Since I only bought the car back in August (having only covered 32000 miles) they thought one may have been carried over from before, so they said I should keep driving the car until it happens again, so they can diagnose a problem. -
Volkswagen Beetle (1998 - ) - 2001 2.0 engine emissions warning lamp 30 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Morning All, We have a 2001 VW Beetle 2.0 petrol, which has covered 88,000 miles. On the way home from work last night, the engine emissions warning lamp (I think it also doubles as an engine management warning lamp) flashed up. This was only about two miles from home and there was no apparent change in the performance of the car, so I carried on home. -
Genuine Renault Parts ? returns policy!? 19 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I rang them to say can they order a new one in and I will go in when they have it to swap them over and give them the faulty one back ? they then said ?You will need to bring the car into us sir so we can verify the fault?. Now as the coil was dead the car could not be moved, they were expecting me to pay to have it recovered to them so they could look at a part they supplied only. -
Anit-corrosion warranty 18 Sep 2002 (Forum)
A couple of months ago, someone in a 4x4 drove past me in a loose chippings stretch of road so fast that I was spattered with gravel and ended up with two chips in the paintwork on the nose of the car. I've just gotten round to getting the stone chip repair kit out of Halfords and did the smaller one first, in case I made a botch of it. I reckon I did a good enough job, but there is a noticeable difference between the "Flash Red" in the container and the "Flash Red" that covers the rest of my car - the touch-up paint is at least two shades darker and would look more noticeable on the bigger chip. -
21 Cent. Bike touring - it still works ! 12 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Bike swallowed the miles as if they weren't there, particularly enjoyable in the flooded Wye Valley including crossing a deepish Ford - big Wellie boot ! Cracking, cracking bike with very few vices. Covered in filth which added to my credibility in towns (:-)) for very little effort ! Rubbish horn. 700 miles covered. Rode this today from last night's stop with one stop for a drink en-route (and helmet fiddle) covered nearly 150 miles with no discomfort. -
