Nissan Micra K11 2001 - Jammed brake light bulb 19 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I was replacing the brake light bulb (P21/5W dual filament) and now the bulb is jammed in the holder. It is half way in, half way out. I can't get the bulb out, nor can I seat it more firmly. Running light works OK, but brake light does not come on. -

Any info will be appreciated. Also are there any maintenance manuals available for this 2008 model as haynes do not seem to have produced one as yet? -
The manual said right foot braking. 7 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I read the following in the Toyota user manual of the car I hired on holiday. "Depress the brake pedal using your right foot. Depressing the brake pedal using your left foot may delay response in an emergency, resulting in an accident. I share this with you out of interest knowing the subject has been flogged before -
Suzuki Ignis II (2003 - 2007) - 06 1.3 Brake disc - how long do they last? 28 Sep 2009 (Forum)
During servicing last month main dealer advised that I need to change brake discs. My car has done just 31,000 miles. Is this normal to change at this mileage? Brake pads were changed at 24,000 miles following recommendation of same dealer. -
Ford S-MAX (2006 - ) - Accident after safety recall brake work 29 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Early this week my wife's car had some work done on the brakes due to safety recall. The safety recall said that the brakes could fail. Today she had a minor accident and she said the breaks didn't seem to work properly. What's the correct course of action to take now? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.8 rear brakes 11 May 2009 (Forum)
I'd like to know what is the point of the two rivets that hold the backplate on when there are four bolts that secure the whole thing on anyway. I had to replace a brake cylinder and in order to undo the two retaining bolts and unscrew the brake pipe it was easier to remove the back plate but I don't understand why there are two rivets. -
SEAT Leon (1999 - 2005) - 02 1.4 no brake lights 6 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I've just recently discovered my brake lights arn't working on my leon. The brake light of the tailgate works, but the other two don't work. I've changed the fuse no luck, and it can't be the bulbs as the light part of the bulb works. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 2.0 TDCI Rear brake pads 2 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I am about to change my rear brake pads. First car with disks on the back! I understand the winding the pistons back, but how do you reset the pads and handbrake? Do you press the brake pedal, as for the front, or is there a different procedure? -
Mercedes Benz - Brakes locking up on TV advert 18 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Any comments on Channel 4 advert, usually shown in evenings, where a Merc is following a Range Rover, cuts across the camera car, brakes hard on leaving the motorway and leaves great long streaks of rubber on the motorway as a result? I would have thought that if MBs have anti lock brakes, such a situation would not occur? -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - Brake Fail STOP warning 17 Jan 2009 (Forum)
There is a "STOP Brake Fail" warning that keeps appearing intermittently during driving on my Passat Estate 1.9TDi. Of course the brakes are working and I would like know what should be done. Interestingly, it especially keeps coming on when I turn right while the car is in motion. -
LED brake lights 25 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I sat behind a recent Merc S-Class the other day which had LED lights. We were in stop-start traffic in broad daylight and he was using his foot brake nearly constantly. The effect on my eyes was not pleasant. It was almost painful. Perhaps Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover etc should investigate better control of these lights in such conditions. I understand the benefit for high-speed braking but not otherwise. -
VW Golf brake hose question. 13 Aug 2006 (Forum)
VW Golf MK 2 has failed its MOT today because the front nearside brake hose is rubbing on the suspension strut. The rubber clip that is supposed to hold it steady to the strut has broken, it looks like the clip comes with the hose. Can any one tell me if there is an after market device that will deal with this problem or will I have to buy a new brake hose? -

Hello all. Wife's car (ford fiesta mk3) due to be booked in at AA service centre for brake service. She needs new pads discs and braking fluid. The parts they will be using are by a company called powertrain (i think). What are there parts like in quality and service life as they sound cheap? -

Brake fluid change VW 23 Aug 2003 (Forum)
My VW Passat is due it's 2 year service, the car has only done 15k. VW insist that a brake fluid change be done at 2 years/20,000 miles or the warranty will be invalidated. I know there is a safety issue here but what puzzles me is that other manufacturers don't seem to specify a brake fluid change at this interval. -
Primera brakes 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1997 2litre Nissan Primera. When I push the brake pedal really hard (with the engine running) I can feel the pedal come to a mechanical stop before it is anywhere near the floor. The brakes don't feel really up to the mark under an emergency stop either. -
Rusting brake pipes 9 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Just wondering if todays cars are still made with steel brake pipes fitted. Lives depend so much on the brakes you would think they would be made of a material that does not rust, in fact I think there should be legislation to enforce this. In my "bangernomics" days my local garage always used Kunifer pipes which is a material used in the marine/ofshore oil industry and is very resistant to salt attack. -
Toyota Carina E - Rusty rear brake pipes 27 Apr 2002 (Forum)
My father's 95 M Toyota Carina E 1.6xi recently was MOT'd and passed, but the tester 'advised' us that the rear brake pipes were slightly corroded. Is this a serious problem, and is it an expensive job? Will corroded pipes have any effect on braking performance? Is it advisable that the pipes are replaced in the very near future?
