Brake problem. any thoughts wlecome.... 10 May 2003 (Forum)
I mean even with the hand brake fully pulled and someone pressing the brake pedal I can turn the wheel by my hand. So my question is, what are the likely chances of a single problem being related to both these issues? What could that be? -
Ford Focus Zetec X reg brake issues - Ford Focus Brake Issues 17 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Interestingly when going over bumps with the brakes lightly applied the rattle stops! My thoughts are that the pads they have fitted are cheap and dont fit the calliper properly so they are moving around. I have looked at it but doesnt appear "loose" Also note that the knock heard when applying the brakes only does so going forward and the brakes do not knock in reverse which would say to me that the pads arn't loose. just a bad fit. -
Help! Honda Brake Caliper 10 Aug 2005 (Forum)
It's the rear brake calipers which have disc brakes. It's a single piston and is the type that you have to press and turn clockwise,(best done with a special tool) to retract the piston if you want to fit new pads. The problem is I had to fit a new one some time ago. -

Engine braking, and how to prolong disc life. 21 Sep 2019 (Forum)
And in automatics there is not much engine braking effect. Personally, I coast where possible for maximum fuel economy. Brake pads only cost a tiny fraction of a penny per mile. In Scotland, this meant that I often had to replace the brake disks for successive MOT's, due to "visble rust". -
2000 Toyota Hiace 2.4D LWB - toyota hiace brake problem - advice appreciated! 14 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Dear All Looking for a recommended independant Toyota or brake specilaist in Bournemouth / Soton area. Any tips appreciated. This is the problem/question I sent in: Had to pull up sharpish yesterday in my 2000 Hiace van after a dodderer pulled out, brakes felt rubbish and only just stopped in time. -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.4 TDCi - Vibrations while braking 7 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Is this correct? The other issue is also to do with the brakes. Over the past few months I've began to feel some kind of feedback through the brake pedal that has gradually gotten worse to the point where I can feel the steering wheel vibrating when the brakes are applied. -
Nissan Primera (1990 - 1996) - brake noise 15 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The best way to describe the noise is like rubbing a wet finger round the top of a wine glass (only in a much lower pitch). The problem only seems to appear when the brakes are warm/hot and the steering is in a straight line or turning to the right. Turning left or placing your foot on the brake pedal, even just lightly, stops the noise. Before the pads were changed I cleaned the brake disks with brake cleaning solvent, this appeared to reduce the noise for a while. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 1998 1.8i - Engine cutting out under braking 26 Feb 2008 (Forum)
However sometimes driving 100miles on the motorway not using the brakes, the engine will cut out again on first application of the brakes (eg slip road or traffic) in 5th gear at 2000+rpm, fully warmed up engine etc. The car will also struggles intermittently on start up (takes 2/3 goes to start sometimes), and when started just the act of sticking it into reverse clutch down will cut out (same as when tapping the brakes first time).
