  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 01 2.0 ABS reluctor ring cracked 2 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hello all The cracked ring (on front axle) causes juddering when braking at low speed. To get round this problem is it feasible to . . . 1. Remove the ring altogether ? 2. Disconnect the sensor ? Thanks in anticipation. Regards, JobyTug
  • Chipping a Diesel 21 Apr 2009 (Forum)
(The 2 litre PD) Bit leggy now at 82K but running perfectly. I'm not looking for massive gains maybe up to 170 brake, but I don't want to be leaving huge clouds of black smoke. If that's the outcome then I definitely won't bother. Anyone got any experience and able to recommend a product?

  • Honda Accord UK (1989 - 1993) - 1990 2.0 ALB clicking/whirring. 8 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Acrivated the ALB in the ice last night - a few seconds of clicking/whirring "clockwork" sounds afterwards, seemingly from the front LHS (under the bonnet?). Is this symptomatic of something going wrong? The brakes worked/work fine, BTW.

  • Yaris Aircon - regassing warranty cover 13 Jul 2006 (Forum)
The aircon seems to take 3 or 4 minutes before delivering cool air and is not as cold as in my car, so I suspect it needs a re-gas. Would this be covered as a warranty fix or is it 'wear and tear' like brake pads?
  • A4 rear bulb change - how to access? 21 Sep 2005 (Forum)
A4 Avant 2003 - brake light bulb has blown. Removed the easily (manually) removable side section inside the boot near the light cluster, only to be greeted by the amp and other bits and pieces. Does anyone know what needs to be removed to get access to replace the bulb?
  • Micra warning light 3 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I have a Handbrake warning light on continuously when the engine is running.I have checked the fluid level, cleaned the multiplug on master cylinder and replaced handbrake switch but problem remains. The car does not have ABS or wear sensors. Brakes work fine but has failed MOT due to the warning light, any ideas anybody? thanks.
  • Alloy wheel problem? 2 Jun 2002 (Forum)
The alloys on my car each have a cover over the central hub held in place with a locking screw. When I removed one after a puncture it was covered in sort of crusty white residue. The brake fluid level seems ok. It only seems to be on one wheel - which now seems to be corroding. The others are fine. thanks
  • Knocking on 306 2 May 2002 (Forum)
I have a 1996 peugeot 306 1.9 diesel which is great but I can feel a faint knocking/clunking through the pedals when not accelerating. Also when I brake the car vibrates quite noticeable. These problems have both got worse and I'm fairly sure they are connected as I replaced discs and pads with no improvement. Any ideas?
  • BMW service 27 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I have been told that this is an annual thing - warning me that the car should be taken in to the garage to check the fluid levels for brake fluid etc. Don't they check these as part of the service? Surely I can check these things myself and top up as necessary. Sounds like a con to me.
  • Don't miss this. 26 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Sit or set your Video recorders for 2000hrs (Zulu) Monday 25th March, 2002 Channel 4. It has an engine, brakes, tyres and you will never get done for speeding in it. Keep your Rolls, Mercs, Mini etc I wish I had one. And if they did restore it in 14 days then I'll eat HJ's hat. DVD

Any suggestions on what car i can get for £4500 to replace my 180,000 mile Mk 2 Golf GTI with failing brakes. Don't really want to go for a Vauxhall/ Ford. Considering a diesel such as a Peugeot 306 or mk3 Golf TDI. Going off to auction tonight so if you have any opinions...!! Thanks!
  • Ford Mondeo - Ford Mondeo MK4 thumping sound from rear? 1 Jul 2019 (Forum)
We drove it back home 180 miles with no issues (apart from the noise at low speeds/braking). Do you think it's the tyres?    Thanks in advance!
  • Honda CR-V 2.2 diesel i-cdti - Throttle response 30 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Although not too dirty on the first check on the bench with a vacuum pump the valve worked but on a retry it did not. I then took to cleaning the valve with oven cleaner and brake cleaner and it worked every time it tested then. It was refitted and all seemed well. Previously I had replaced the brake switch in case that was the fault and also fitted another pedal too. This fault comes and goes by the way.

  • Ford Mondeo Automatic 2 litre hatch 2002 - Engine Warning Light on dashboard remaining on 15 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I read somewhere that the warnings relating to the engine indicator light could relate to any number of faults, e.g. low brake pads / discs. Does anyone know if this is true ? I believe that the brakes may currently be  low and this would not be too difficult to manage I have no wish to ignore the warning but am also a bit short of cash at prensent and would prefer that I am not told of some really expensive fault which possibly is not required.
  • 04(53) civic ctdi - high pressure fuel pump bust scrap or repair 27 Jan 2014 (Forum)
We do have an alternate car which ironically we were about to scrap. A 99 skoda octavia 146000 miles . It needs full set of brakes to pass its mot. We thought this is the better bet at mo. I just thought it would be nice to hear some other opinions.    I still cant believe the hpfp has gone. The civic looks lovely, but is dead as dodo right now.
  • Query about my service 9 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Basically, my main question is can they just replace things such as wipers and lights and charge without asking? And also, is an hour to replace the headlights and brake fluid reasonable? I have looked online and the fluid is changed by machine!   Thanks
  • VW Golf GL TDI 1996 - VW Golf GL TDI 1996 Cutting Out....Again.. 7 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Now its doing the random cutting out thing again, exactly the same thing, all power go`s,then when I pull over and turn off and leave for a minute, its then starts and runs ok.Had a look at relay 109,but it looks ok,no sign of melting like last time.Dont know if its connected but have also had intermittant flashing glow plug light for months now,VW have  scanned it and got the brake light switch code, replaced with brand new VW brake light switch, still the intermittant flashing glow plug light remains, and still when scanned it gives BLS fault code. Is it possible the new type relay 109 is failing?
