New Fiat Qubo "practical and environmentally friendly" 15 Jul 2009 (News)
It will be fitted with the manufacturer's eco:Drive technology and is aimed at helping drivers cut down on fuel consumption by figuring out how they can improve their motoring style. Andrew Humberstone, Fiat Group Automobiles UK managing director, said all cars in the range are designed to be "fun" yet green and sensible. -
Peugeot 308 'is a green choice' 1 Jul 2009 (News)
A couple driving a 308 SE HDi 110 recently made a trip round Britain with the aim of using as little diesel as possible. During the 3,700-mile trip, the auto achieved average fuel economy of 126.8 mpg. This was verified by an official from Guinness World Records and even Peugeot admitted to being a little surprised. Fleet sales director Phil Robson stated: "We've been telling customers that our low-CO2 ... vehicles are ... very economical and fuel efficient, but I have to say even I am very impressed by this achievement. -
Green motorists may be impressed by Fiat invention 9 Mar 2009 (News)
The technology is capable of increasing power by ten per cent and reducing fuel consumption and emissions by the same amount. Fiat made this announcement after being named the carmaker with the lowest average CO2 figures for the second consecutive year. In other motoring news , the group recently unveiled an online marketing campaign for the new Qubo, featuring the singer James Morrison. -
Revised Avensis 'is stylish and economical' 5 Dec 2008 (News)

Honda unveils 'sports car of the future' 24 Nov 2008 (News)
Motorists who are thinking about buying a car and are looking for an eco-friendly manufacturer may want to consider Honda. The company has just unveiled a fuel cell concept vehicle at the LA Auto Show. According to the manufacturer, the FC Sport -which is a hydrogen-powered three-seater - gives motorists a glimpse of what sports cars may look like in the future. -
Eco-driving 'can help save money and the planet' 14 Oct 2008 (News)
Organisers of this year's ALD Automotive/Total Excellium MPG Marathon state the event has shown avoiding sharp braking and accelerating can cut fuel costs by an average of 23 per cent. They point out if everyone in the UK adapted their behaviour behind the wheel in this way, a total of £8.2 billion would be saved each year. People taking part in the 2008 marathon undertook a round trip between Bristol and Macclesfield. -

Cambridge car club looks to cut congestion 9 Jul 2008 (News)
A car club has been set up in Cambridge with the intention of cutting congestion in the area as well as sidestepping expensive fuel costs, a local news source has reported. Cambridge News has stated that for £49.50 per year, drivers can hire out vehicles as and when they need them, with additional costs depending on the automobile required. -
Cameron 'wants to go further' with green cars 16 Jun 2008 (News)
Conservative Party leader David Cameron has announced that he wants the UK to be a world leader when it comes to hydrogen fuel cell or battery power vehicles. The politician questioned why Britain is lagging behind the US when it comes to the technology, when the US has "been slow in getting climate change". -
New 307 Beats Golf on Emissions 23 Oct 2001 (News)
Peugeot's new 307 2.0 HDI 110bhp diesel models with FAP particulate filters use even less fuel and emit less CO2 than the excellent new VW Golf GT TDI 130. Figures for the Peugeot are 54.3mpg in the combined cycle and 138g/km CO2 compared to the VW's 52.3mpg and 148g/km CO2. Both cars qualify for the lowest 2002-2003 VED rate for a diesel of £110. -

Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Toyota Launches New Prius But Holds Back Details 15 Sep 2015 (News)
The press release tells us its new Prius "heralds the next generation of Toyota's signature hybrid powertrain" but is strangely reticent about the details. It talks of making its next generation hybrids easier and more intuitive to drive, that fuel economy is improved and that the new drivetrain is more compact. We get two statistics: that the thermal efficiency of the new engine is improved by more than 40% over its predecessor and that the new hybrid system targets an 18% improvement in fuel efficiency.
