Green motorists may be impressed by Fiat invention

Mon, 09 Mar 2009
Motorists who consider green credentials when buying a car may be impressed by a new engine development from the Fiat Group.

The company's MultiAir innovation has been designed to cut CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, as well as increasing power.

Initially, it will be used in the manufacturer's 16-valve 1.4-litre engine and the first model to feature the unit will be the Alfa Mito.

People considering buying a car later this year should find the vehicle available in showrooms across the UK before the end of 2009.

The technology is capable of increasing power by ten per cent and reducing fuel consumption and emissions by the same amount.

Fiat made this announcement after being named the carmaker with the lowest average CO2 figures for the second consecutive year.

In other motoring news, the group recently unveiled an online marketing campaign for the new Qubo, featuring the singer James Morrison.
