Overall reliability

Good quality, fun to drive car, 5 door version a big improvement, automatic recommended.

This is the second Mini I have bought. Previous 3 door Cooper manual. Did 37,000 miles, no trouble whatsoever. However, this new car is a much better model. It has the new engine, which is quieter and a better engine all round, better air conditioning, and obviously more doors. I chose automatic this time, having driving manual cars all my life. I have to say it is superb. A previous review mentioned gearing problems; with the auto, this is eliminated. Left foot on brake, switch on, drive off. At traffic lights, you keep your foot on the brake, and take it off when the lights change. Very smooth. Manual handbrake if needed. Still a little noisy on the motorway but better than the old model. It is not a BMW, of course. Acceleration is electric and smooth. Petrol consumption very average in my opinion. But you can't have everything! I love this car.
