Few months in with this 'old' car and not disappointed

A little update on my last review (title 'underrated little hero car'). I bought privately a very cheap example due to tattyness and niggles (neither of which have cost me money really). It's now been in my ownership for 4 months and passed its MOT with no advisories in May! The only niggles I've sorted out were : rattling front brake caliper slider bolts. My mechanic merely greased them up, tweaked the shims for the pads and now the sound has gone. Very quick and easy (last owner thought it was suspension bushes rattling but that's all it was). if rattle returns, I've found some brand new sliders on Ebay for £17. It's nothing dangerous, but quickly diagnosed as a loud irritating rattle over bumps and road imperfections which goes away if brake pedal lightly pressed.
Secondly, the clutch biting point on the pedal was very high, but clutch didn't slip once in gear, just hard to drive without riding the clutch if setting off quickly. This was a quick and FREE fix not everyone is aware of on these Aygo engines. The clutch pedal height can be adjusted on the clutch cable in the engine bay. Turned the wheel clockwise to slacken and hey presto - a normal biting point on the pedal and no doubt many more miles left on the clutch itself. This took 2 minutes for my usual mechanic (needed to use grips as adjuster wheel was stiff) but was done for free (as I'm sure any mechanic you already throw other business at would do). The cable adjuster is a lot easier to get to than on Aygo/C1/107 as it's right at the front with nothing in the way! Probably same on 1.3/1.5 too.
So despite being a ten year old car that's had some abuse by previous owners it's very reliable and problems so far have been nothing that's cost me much at all, if anything! I have a real fear that when the time comes to upgrade for something shiny and more modern, I'll regret getting rid of the Sirion. There's a real sense it will keep going forever, such is the simplicity of it. Even when things wear out, it doesn't cost much at all to get fixed. And I love not having all the water ingress problems and flimsy glass boot design that the Aygo suffers from. And it has a boot courtesy light - lots of Aygo owners moan about not having that! And proper rear windows - not pop-outs like 3 and 5 door Aygos. If you out up with the car's less trendy exterior styling it will reward you with more space, comfort and nicer features inside.
