They fall off easily enough sometimes, but having just had the stalk snap at the ball/mirror end, I need to remove the remaining piece (base) which is attached to the screen using the strong bonding agent/glue used in manufacture. This will enable me to fit a replacement.

Does anyone have any experience/advice about how to do so without damaging the screen ?

My thoughts are to use a thin paint scraper or similar thin tool, and slowly work it behind the base, loosening/levering the base off.
