AUDI A4 2.0 TDI AUTO - ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE - PETER.L

Hello,
Bought as new December 2009, on a couple of occassions from then until now, there has been a situation in that there is a distinct "overheating" smell from both rear wheels, & they are really hot to touch, [even though the journey has only been 5 miles] it is as though the electronic brake is still 'on'...even though it is 'off' according to the light on the button.

Is it possible for this to happen??...the dealer insists there is no problems when we have taken it in for them to inspect....but, typically, the situation is not happening when we go!!!!...Peter.

Its possible they are binding not caused by the motors failing too release but by the pads sticking in the calipers.

I would advise they remove and clean the pads first. Normally if the motors fail to release the handbfrake failure flashes on the dash.

When you say the wheels too hot to touch do you mean the disc's ot the wheels themselves ? I trust the wheels are alloys ? they will become warm after driving so how hot ?
