05 1.5 diesel ECU needs recalibrating? - flashgordo
Hey folks,

My wife bought a 05 Ford Focus deisel a few months back. Last night she went out and noticed that the wipers were going, the indicator lights were flashing and also the car was making a beeping noise. There was no key in the car. When she turned the key in the ignition the noises stopped, but started again as soon as she took the key out.

Rang a local mechanic and he told me that the ECU needs to be recalibrated.

Just wondering if this is common, and also is it expensive to fix?

This sounds like a case of 'first thing that popped into the head' scenario !

It is certainly a major electrical fault, but it won't be cured by 're-calibration' of the ECU I think.

You could try disconnecting the battery for half an hour (check you have the radio code etc).

This might help.

Sounds like water has got into somewhere it shouldn't.
Check the carpets for damp.
Some cars have one or more of the ECU's located under the carpets, so is the first thing to get wet if you have any leaks. Great designs.
