What is it about this country that causes people to pimp the registration plate?!!?

I don't recall this happening in any other European country.

Of course, the DVLA is partly to blame as they make a fair bit of money out of it. But for every £250 that they make it must cost everyone else way more than that to police their correct use.

Personnaly, I think that it looks daft, raises the profile of the car and/or driver and is open to abuse. In a bizzare sort of way, it is another stealth tax!

Pimpier the better in my opinion, and incomprehensible number plates in prehistoric scripts too. Give plod something to get his teeth into, and the tut-tutting brigade something to tut-tut about.

I really like number plates in unusual colours as well. Look them up in the almanac to see whether they might not just possibly belong to the Chechnya diplomatic corps' security service.

They are simply inviting the police to pull them over and slap um with a fine as well as finding out they have no insurance or MOT either.
