Galaxy - Lights flicker when parked - Jack Regan
Hello,

While driving back home the other night, I stopped off at a shop. I had my headlights on, but took the keys out of the car and locked it.
While I was in the shop, I noticed that the rear lights flickered once very briefly. Then it happened again, so I timed the interval. It happened every 50 to 60 seconds.
I contacted the smax owners club and they said it might be something to do with Fords "Smart Charge System" (whatever that is?)

Is this a feature on the Galaxy or a fault ?
The lights do NOT flicker when the car is started

Cheers

isn't the Smart Charge system something to do with the new Mondeo's fuel injection?

Anyone any thoughts ?

I'd suspect an electrical system, alarm, ecu or... or... or....? Not too hot on the latest car electrics but work in the electronics industry where plenty systems have some sort of 'keep alive' or 'monitor' signal that fires off every now and then. Maybe there's a dodgy earth or other connection that's allowing this to affect the lights.

Could even be switch/relay fault?
