My car was broken into and my MOT certificate stolen. I got myself a replacement certificate, but do I need to tell the DVLA or anyone like that about the stolen cert?

This is precisely the reason why no documentation or manuals should be ever be kept in the vehicle - if there is a break-in or it is stolen it makes life so much easier for toe rags.
I presume you've already informed the police about the break-in?

Simple Insurance policy........mention the fact to Plod. Any notification to VOSA (DVLA not interested) they should take care of.
Then if anything untoward occurs with the stolen one at least you have reported it.

I know what you mean, I only had them in there as I'd only just re-newed my car tax.
Police couldn't care less to be honest. It was like "oh yeah and you'd like us to do what".

I don't suppose the police were interested - it's another crime on their stats, which is exactly why it should be reported!
