why do we still get a poor deal on car warranties in the UK? checking the VW Phaeton out, same car etc but UK get 3 years warranty and US get 5. Hyundai also get a 10 year power-train warranty in the US.
Is it to do with out driving style?

Probably more down to the dealerships - Are these deals you mentioned manufactures warranties or dealer warranties (an important difference)

In the US, which has a history of dealers tying up customers with long-term finance ( typically 5 years ),it is highly likely the warranties are there to sweeten and close the deal

It's not all that long ago that a new car warranty was only for 12 months.
Ironically the same models built in the same factory, often UK based, had a three year warranty in other countries.
Regarding the US, it has a far more stringent approach to what are termed "lemons" - you can demand your money back or a new car for some considerable time after purchase if there are a number of faults.
All down to a certain Mr R Nadar..........
