As you know I am hoping to get another van in the near future.
If I do get the one I'm after, what would be the going rate for my old Trafic?
Ignore what I paid for it, it is a 1996 N 2.1 Diesel. at 185K.
It will have a full MOT but no tax to speak of (poss a month).
It has a normal roof (not a high or a semi high top) it is a SWB with side loading door.
It has one previous owner (then me).
Bodywork has not suffered with rust at all, unlike the earlier models and it is very reliable. It has never let me down.
There are a few blemishes on the body though. The front bumber, whough complete has been cracked and repaired. Both the rear quarter bumpers have suffered minor impact enough to give the light clusters probs with properly seating onto the bodyshell, though they do stay firm. The nearside quarter bumper is broken and the NSR light cluster really needs changing (red tape gets it through MOTs).
In addition the bonnet has been scratched and is missing some trim. The rear doors need a slam to close. Though they are secure when locked.
All the locks work properly. The vehicle drives well.
Work done within the last 15months include replacement track rods, rear wheel bearing new cam belt, servicing and a replacement power steering pump.
So - what's it worth?
Good points - Late reliable diesel, versatile. Obviously well maintained by previous owner. Light use only until I have had it. Then I have tended to carry new materials and waste timber rather than rubble.
Bad points - Bodywork abused by shoddy driving, high mileage.

22 month old renault master long body medium roof, (Can stand upright in at 6ft 2\"). electric pack, air con, needs MINOR body tidying bits and bobs. Owner driver from new. I Ignored service intervals regarding oil and filter and changed every 5k without fail. fully ply lined. Twerp dealer today offers 5.8 - 6k. I offer him a job saying for every one he finds I will give him 7K. He laughs the laugh of an idiot, (embarrassed), and politely rings off. Do they think that we are all pink fluffy dice??
Regards.
P.S. sorry missed the point. You should get £600.00. methinks. (Or am I being a pink fluffy dice?)

So, looks like the VW may be coming your way?
The Renault isn't worth anything, in real terms.
Don't start wasting £$£$£ on adverts - do you have a local paper that advertises it forever/until you sell it, for a one off charge? You could mess about with the price, a bit, that way.
Always someone needs a temporary set of wheels, so long as it stops n starts & got a bit of test, it'll sell.

There are two free ads papers down our way, plus auto trader etc.
I will probably stick it in the free ads as there was a real shortage of well priced vans in there when I went looking in December 02.
It has only got two months MOT but I'll probably try to get a full 12 month ticket on it, which should make it sell at a reasonable price.
My target would be someone in the same situation I was in when I bought it. I saw a need for another vehicle to take the strain off the family car with respect to larger materials and waste etc.
For the price and running costs of a cheap 2nd car, it would be possible to buy and run the van, which offers much more versatility to the 2 driver household, provided one spouse is happy to drive the van on a semi regular basis.

This now answers a question I asked DD. Obviously my last post on this thread didn't register, so it was some way down the list.
My friend go the £2K he wanted for the van so I didn't get it, so my Trafic will be kept for a year or two.
So it's off to my friendly bodyshop with both vehicles to get the rear floor pan and other bits repaired on the Discovery and possibly a few rear dents taken out of the van, and even some new rear light clusters, depending on its MOT performance in the near future.
Thanks for all the advice, and my apologies for accusing DD of removing this thread!
