Guys, if you do know of a tyre that grips the road like an ex wife to your wallet, is whisper quiet, costs pennies and lasts a 100,000 miles or ten years.
Do let me know as I'll buy some....
I need to half open the roof to lubricate etc but it won’t stay. Local dealers say a special tool is needed but won’t sell me one…too dangerous they tell me. Any ideas? Read more
My previous one was stolen and indeed the roof stayed open for maintenance but the replacement...a 2016...dosen't. I've contacted the supplying dealers and they will not help. They say it is too dangerous and only a mechanic can do it safely with their special tool. I've managed to get to some hinges and rubbers and hope to figure a way to get to them all.

There won't necessarily be any codes logged on the car as it's failing to load maps rather than an issue with the idrive itself.
You will either need a new map uploaded (done via USB) or the drive HDD reflashed. The latter will need you to take the car in for it to be done (don't use BMW as they will be extortionate....
Noticed today on the main road whilst driving home that a camera has been installed on one of the lampposts pointing towards a strip of road where speeding is problem. No other indication of what the camera’s for. Any ideas what it might be doing? Read more
Likely a traffic monitoring camera.
If speeding was an issue then one of those temporary speed display signs would likely be deployed first to monitor the situation. ...

There's T reg 200 still rattling around the local town, I see it regularly. It looks a bit dog-eared but it's entitled to do so at that age. The L series diesel still sounds good and strong.

just wondering if anyone can recommend a supplier for a very short feed wire for a dash cam. My car MG HS Hybrid . The car was manufactured with a feed socket behind the mirror. I have not yet decided which cam to buy but I would like to know that I don't have to hide miles of wire when I do make my mind up. I only want a forward facing camera and quite like the look of Viofo 119 2

Hi!
Since 2010 I've owned a 2008 Passat CC with 165k miles under it's belt. For years I've considered selling it, but it owes me nothing and refuses to die, but it isn't without its issue. In a nutshell........ Read more
Thanks for all the replies.
John that's amazing how reliable your car was and interesting to hear you dared to stick to the original cam belt and didn't have issues....
