My daughter has a 2014 Ford KA and recently had a new clutch fitted locally, they then called and said it was struggling to get into 2nd gear. They said a new gear cable was needed. It was there for a few days and they said they were struggling to do it. My daughter then picked the car up and they weren't charged for that- so mustnt have been done and wasn't charged.

Going to take elsewhere now but wonder if you agree it is likely gear cable?... Read more

Just wondering if anyone can recommend breakdown cover for my 2008 Ford C-Max for holiday in Belgium? I've seen ETA Insurance cover older cars, but have no idea of their reputation. amny breakdown companies don't seem to cover cars over 15 years old. Read more

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about corroded subframes and corroded fuel pipe, would it be an expensive job? Hyundai Amica 2008... Read more

The description 'corroded' is very vague. Surface corrosion on something solid like a subframe could be little more than cosmetic. On part of the pressed-metal bodywork it could be bad news. A rusty fuel pipe could be cheaply replaced. It all depends.

I am in need of a new car & looking at the Ford Kuga 20 reg upwards. My last few cars have been diseal but after a discussion with a salesman at Ford he suggested a petrol car as diseal is being phased out and in 10 years time when I come to change cars this could have a effect on part exchanging or getting any value.

I don't drive many miles, I work within 3 miles of home and family & friends live within 20 mins drive. Once a year we drive to Cornwall pulling a trailer with camping stuff approx 300 miles each way. My partner is admiant we need a diseal for this purpose as a petrol would not pull a trailer. I know nothing about cars so any advice would be appreciated.... Read more

A 1.5 petrol Kuga will tow 750kg unbraked or 1,730kg braked trailer.

I have a trailer tent of around 400kg and have towed it with three petrol cars, including a 1.2. .I have not had any problems.

Hi all, recently obtained a Focus Mk3 with a Sony
head unit.

I’d like to use Waze for directions etc. However,
if I connect my phone via BT/aux input, it then
becomes a dedicated input, of course, and I get no
radio from the unit.

Is there a way to select my phone/Waze to the head
unit and still listen to the radio etc with Waze over-
riding the audio when giving directions etc ?

Thanks all……ebt Read more

On my previous poverty spec Superb mkII S model that only had basic Bluetooth or aux input I used an Amazon echo auto to control my music over t'nternet be it BBC (BBC sounds), Spotify, Amazon or stuff on your phone etc... It all worked well if you had mobile signal. I also used internet radio which at the time was "Amazon play Scala radio, Boom radios etc" - oh and Borrow box for audio books,...

Hi all, just a quickie please. I’ve just bought myself a
Focus Titanium X Estate, 2013. Boy, what a lovely
car with just about every feature imaginable.

One question please. The car came with the
standard Bluetooth/DAB head unit but I’d like
to upgrade it to one on the Ford Sync units
that has built in satnav.

Anyone know if this is possible please ?

Thanks……….ebt

This is further to my original post re the replacement engine under warranty for an Arona just under 3 years old. Thank you to all you helpful people that replied with advice.

SEAT have replaced the engine and it is ready to collect. (We had informed the dealer at the beginning of this process that we would like a replacement car, rather than a repair) However to move forward with this we are thinking accepting the repair is the most straightforward option. The only issue to be resolved is the warranty on the new engine SEAT says it will only have the "used approved" balance of the 2 year warranty (expires Sept 26). Should the engine need replacing again then this warranty will cover only £1000. SEAT said a the repair would be around £14000.... Read more

The new engine would only get a new warranty if you're paying for it.

It's normal that a part replaced under warranty only has the original warranty terms - for example a part replaced 1 day before the original warranty ended will get no warranty at all....
