I charged my battery up the wrong way and when I tried to put it back on car it was sparking like mad , thought something was left on that took high voltage! Anyway it was the polarity had changed in the battery

Best way you’ve blown a fuse . Worst way, the engine ecu has been fried . Take a look at the fuses behind the glove box.
Hi, I bought a ten year old VW Transporter Shuttle with 400k miles on from an independent dealer which being a VW was not cheap, on the day of collection it was working ok with no signs of any issues. On the journey back it worked ok but the following day it started to have issues and the engine lost power and started to make some clearly unsettling noises. After doing less than 300 miles in it, my local garage are saying the engine has had it. I did buy from a dealer and their warranty which is through another party have said it's wear and tear so won't cover it, the garage are digging their heals in basically saying the same thing as it showed not signs of issue and it was working at 'point of collection', do I have a right to reject? How much did you pay for this? Can’t see any dealers giving a warranty on a vehicle with 400k on it .
I'm surprised anyone would pay out for one, even if it was the only one left .....
About a week ago I had all 4 injectors replaced with new ones on my Astra CDTi after about 6 months of it frequently regening itself, lots of smoke, bad smells etc. The garage I took it to tested the injectors and all 4 failed so all had to be replaced. The also ran diagnostics and a forced regen once the new ones were in.
Car seemed a lot better for about 4-5 days, no smells, no smoke etc, but in the last 2 days it's gone back to trying to regen itself pretty much every day, lots of smoke, smells etc.... Read more
What engine is fitted to this vehicle?
Last March I noticed that the roof aerial had gone from SWMBO's Pug 207SW. I made the obvious assumption that someone had nicked it, as it screws into a base and is easily removed or replaced, so I ordered another from E-bay. Simple.
Today I was wiping the car cleaner than usual (it doesn't happen very often) and was feeling my way around the gutter containing the tailgate hinges, and guess what I came up with. The puzzling thing is that the screw-end of the aerial is too fat to drop through the gap between roof and tailgate, tho that can happen easily when the tailgate is lifted. I must assume that the aerial came loose, lay on the roof, and fell in later ? Read more
It must be nearly 20 years since I took any car to a carwash, so it can't be that. But all stubby-mast aerials have a built-in spiral to disturb the airflow, so I wondered if that might provide a steady torque which could gradually loosen the screw. I THINK it would actually tighten it, but can't be sure.

Last year i was getting 58mpg on my clio but the MPG dropped massively to 50mpg and even after a minor service in January , The MPG didn't improve, So i booked the car into ATS for a Major service last month which included adding Techron D Concentrated Diesel Fuel System Cleaner which i would imagine into the fuel tank.
After a few days and a run on the motorway, I am now getting the 58 MPG so i would imagine that the Cheap fuel that i buy from Esso isn't all that clean. " I have a Card for Esso"... Read more
I get all the cleaning I seem to need in my Pug diesel from 10 or 20 litres of V-power every few fills. The 'feel' of the car very soon afterwards suggests that the engine likes it. I haven't used conditioner for some years now. At a premium of about 15p/litre, or a couple of quid it may be a cheaper option than £32 ?
If the 12 v battery goes flat, then that's catastrophic.

I was under the bonnet of the new EV3 a couple of weeks ago, and that has a separate, conventional 12V battery.
I think it’s the PHEV’s that have the integral 12V battery.
I always wonder what is the best way to clean your car interior and keep it fresh like new. I would like to know something that we can do at home rather than going for a detailed car wash. Read more
