My wife and l like automatic petrol engined cars in a roomy MPV bodystyle, not SUV. Over the yaers, we have got used to Japanese cars with approx 2 litre engines, but to get one now you have to either 'buy old' or 'buy import'. Today we tried this 2016 Zafira. It was quite pleasant but I could hear the gearbox working away to make the best of the small engine's limited torque. I wonder if we would really get on with it? Or am I being very old-fashioned? I think we are likely to buy a car between 5 and 10 years old. Read more
I bought a V8 car from a performance garage in March which cost 30k. I traded my previous car in and put 10k cash towards it.
Driving the car home (3 hour journey) I noticed problems with it, engine noises and error codes. When I got back I rang the garage and they arranged to pick it back up.
Turned out the engine was faulty and needed a new piston. They had the car a couple of months and replaced the piston.
A week later the engine started ticking again so i called them back up. They took it back and have now had it 10 weeks. They said they would rebuild the engine but whenever I call for an update they say they'll get back to me and never or they will say technician is on holiday.
It's costing me a fortune on car rentals and I feel like if I ever get the car back that it will just fail again. Also when I get it back I'll have no warranty as it will have run out. I've had it on my drive about 2 weeks since March and drove it 4 days.
What should I do? should I continue to wait? Am i entitled to a full refund? I'm guessing it's a long process and expensive if I was go take it to court? Read more
Depending on the precise dates, it may be within the 30 day absolute right to reject period as returning it for repair stops the clock.
Hi all,

I had the same car and same issue. It was the exhaust gas recirculation valve that was blocked on mine. Basically a diesel was the wrong car for me because of the type of driving and mileage I was undertaking. I’ve moved to petrol now.
Hi
I'm looking for a new car and the Combo Life ticks all the boxes except for one thing.... The front seats only recline part way (maybe around 45 degree angle at the lowest?). We often go away for short breaks in the car and sleep in the front, with the seats fully reclined. So without that we'd have to rule this model out.... Read more
I've got a couple of photos showing the limited recline of the front seats, so thought I would share them here... Both show the driver's seat in maximum recline position. Would be so great if there was a restrictor that could be removed, or some other way to allow for full recline. Appreciate from the above comments that it is unlikely, but you never know!

Recently my brakes started behaving strange. If I braked hard the car seem to go ok but it was obviouly dragging on the brakes because the fuel consumption started falling on the computer read out, but once home and left overnight the car drove fine the next day with consumption rising again, I thought it might be my brakes calipers sticking on, so I replaced all 4 calipers, and its been fine for about two weeks, then I braked hard again the other day and the same thing started happening with the consumption falling. are there any reasons that this maybe happening aprt fri sticky brake calipers? Read more
I thought (and said) that initially, but, as above, I now think that the OP is assuming brake involvement because he gets a sudden rise in fuel consumption, which I assume is continuously displayed, after firmly applying the brakes.
If its closely coincident in time this seems a reasonable interpretation....
I have an issue where a Scummy bloke keeps parking his car over the driveway on our street,

You could also escalate the issue with the local parking authority or law enforcement, as parking over a dropped kerb is usually a violation.

Does anyone know why when I put the hot air blowers on water starts coming into the passenger footwell from under the glove box ? Is there a drain somewhere? Has anyone had this problem any ideas would be great thanksIt sounds like your car's drain might be blocked. When the heater or AC is on, water can build up and leak into the footwell if the drain is clogged. You might need to clean the drain or get a mechanic to check it.
Can't see how turning on heater or AC has any effect on water built up due to a blocked drain. Unless the fan sucks strongly enough to suck standing water up into the intake, which seems unlikely
Seen a build up around this joint, I’ve cleaned it up best I can and will check it next weekend. Anyone kindly tell me what that part is for?
I’m not well educated on the part names and what it all does.

No, I did check hoses around that area, particularly the one that sits in the clip attached to that intake. I lifted it out and looked under it for signs of cracking or actual splits ect.
Thanks for the reply
My old Vitara was a 1.4t with an automotive. Theres no way I'd describe it as slow, lethargic. Quite the opposite 235nm of torque it was very nippy indeed. IMO having an autobox actually protected the turbo, from abuse , over revving etc.
And sorry to bang on here but peppy performance is one of the reasons I drive an EV now. But worried about a 1.4t automatic? Not for one second.
