"Stellantis car buyers being ‘forced’ to pay for new cars still stuck in ports"

Before I go traipsing off to the dealer; any thoughts on why the 12v sockets would have stopped working? I've checked fuse 40 but it looks fine. Read more
Nope. You have to unclip a damper arm, fiddle it past the stops and let it hang off the hinge in the footwell. If it was LHD, you slide out a cubby next to the steering wheel.

I am about to change a failing battery.... Read more
Possibly. Does the car have stop/start ? Even if the battery is not coded it’s unlikely to affect its life.
Hi, I got this part worn tyre last week, and noticed it was flat today.
Could this be a puncture of my making ? or is it more likely to have been there from before (it seems like there's yellow markings around the hole)
I'm deciding whether to bring it back, or just bite the bullet and pay £60 for a new one.
Many Thanks
Liam

Decades ago I had a couple of new tyres put on a Cortina GT. Checking the pressures the next day, I noticed 'tube type' on the sidewall, I was looking at a tubeless valve. Tyre fitters said it didn't matter. Trading standards had a different opinion.
I refused to trust the original fitters with the right tyres and negotiated with trading standards to have new tyres fitted elsewhere and a full refund. Of course, it took a few days to source the correct tyres and I had fun hooning around on them. Let's say there weren't any moulding pips visible when they came off!
My builder called me to give him a Jump start when he left the internal light on in his Corsa van.
Having seen so many cars electronics blown up when things get mixed up I wasn’t able to help and managed to persuade someone on the car park to become the donor car.... Read more
OTOH if worried about your fragile electronics, as well you might be on a newish car, why not just disconnect your battery before attaching the leads?Because the whole point about keeping the engine running on the donor car means the alternator's providing an additional current boost for the starter of the other car.
Yeh, I get that....
i am considering buying this Swift, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the 'AH' stands for after the date, wrote under the bonnet on this picture please?

Sadly I've trashed the bodywork on an excellent 2003 Golf Mk4 1.9 TDI so will have to scrap it, even though mechanicaly it's still great. Before I do though I'd like to salvage a sensible set of parts from it that are compatible with my new car, a 2003 Golf Mk4 1.9 SDI (with only 81,000 miles on the clock!). Any suggestions for a list of compatible parts that are fairly easy to remove and worth keeping on the shelf? I'm retired with time on my hands - I don't know much but I like 'how to do' googling and having a go! Read more
That's really useful, thanks!
I'm not a wine drinker, my favourite tipple is Abbot Ale or 6X. However, I've agreed to provide four bottles for Christmas day, two of each colour. I was in Sainsbury's today, the range was overwhelming and a huge difference in price. I didn't know where to start. Can anyone provide any recommendations? I have no idea what the price should be, is a tenner a bottle too cheap? Most of the supermarkets are accessible to me, including Lidl and Aldi. Many thanks :-) Read more
This thread has matured somewhat :), but you mentioned Lidl; they have a selection of wines, some with "scores" as to how good someone thinks they may be, and prices. This is very helpful to many people, including me when I don't recognise something.

Caravan owners face £2,500 fines for towing 'incorrectly' after major driving law change (msn.com)

The report from the Express quoted by the OP is a bit garbled.
Changes introduced in the nineties, probably to align with EU law, meant that those passing their tests after 1997 where the combined 'plated' weights of towing vehicle and (braked) trailer were greater than 3,500kg needed to pass a B+E trailer test. Most cars, paired with most caravans would exceed that. However my own outfit, 2013 Citroen Berlingo Multispace and 2014 Elddis Xplore 304 caravan are below 3,500kg. ...
Hello and apologies for asking another question. We have a Fiat 500 where the inner LCD screen, the one inside the mechanical speedometer and tachometer needles, has suddenly dimmed and is now blank. It was working fine and suddenly the whole screen showed all the letters and symbols. When I stopped I restarted the car and the same screen remained. This screen is the simple orange LCD one that normally has the fuel gauge on the left and the temperature gauge on the right. When I got home I switched on and off again and this time this screen dimmed (not completely dark} but no gauges or numbers showed. I have looked on line and checked the tailgate wiring, the 5 amp fuse in the "glovebox", and disconnected the "snap on" connector on the negative terminal. Also tested the battery and it is fine. I have looked at various Fiat forums but none describe my symptoms. So any bright ideas (a poor attempt at humour)? Read more
Ac Tronics are a Dutch company with UK branch in Colchester . Used them on many occasions and found to be very efficient. There are plenty of other firms that do special electronic repairs, but not had any experience of these.
Spoofed a few C4 mock 4x4 on 72 plates today, I liked the unique styling of this car.
Sort of not an SUV, not a hatch back, not an estate, not like anything else!
