Good afternoon,
I'm a Marketing student based in Aberdeen researching the EV market, specifically adoption of electric cars and potential barriers presented to widespread adoption.
I would greatly appreciate any users efforts to complete a survey for my research, I will insert a link at the bottom of this post to do so. The questionnaire is very brief and straightforward and should only take 10 minutes to complete.
This is the link to complete a survey questionnaire to help with my research:

I suspect that there is a correlation between people not knowing basic precautions and NOT subscribing to a website like this one.
Conversely, is there a correlation between knowing and taking basic precautions (at all times - breaking down and waiting in the rain is not pleasant) and reading this website?
If so what is the point of this article - other than to wind up those who like to like to live dangerously by not checking their cars weekly or before a long journey? After all where's the fun of driving on Britain's road if there is no fear of not making it?

It’s great to see a drop in price, long overdue. It hasn’t happened in Formby Merseyside where local stations operate a cartel, still selling unleaded at 194.9. Tesco undercut slightly at 192.9. This price fixing should be stopped.
The cheaper prices can be found in rural locations in Cumbria at 187.9, where you’d expect distribution costs to be higher leading to premium prices; that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is just a blip, given the issues causing the rise are still there.
My two local filling stations (Esso and Tesco) were, for once, amongst the lowest priced in the region and have dropped from 185p/L to 183p and today to 180p and 186.9p to 184.9p to 181.9p respectively over the last fortnight.
That might sound 'cheap' due to the exhorbitant prices elsewhere, but then the price at the former was 'only' 156p back in late May. It was also 120p/L just before the Pandemic.
I also remamber paying 70p/L in 1998 and the fuel protests after it (finally) rose to over £1 a few years later for more context.

I forgot to ask (and if you don't mind) - where are you moving to, given you're currently not that far from me, in the West Suffolk area, if I recall. Will you be still in the area and thus be able to make use of your current local tradesmen or will you have to start all over?

Please could someone let me know where I can find the socket to plug in my little diagnostic code reader? The EML is on and I hope to find it is something minor. Just bought this 2006 1.6 petrol manual Meriva Active. It seems like a nice car but has a few niggles. Read more
That’s good , they could be historic codes . These faults are very often caused by faulty spark plugs or coil cassette pack .
Hi looking to get a kia ceed, I just want to know the reliabiity and if they are worth getting. this car ive seen is 1.6crdi eco start stop 85k 2015, 5k. Thanks Read more
They’re generally good news, but as with any modern DPF equipped diesel there’s plenty to go wrong. Unless you’re doing regular longer runs and at least 15,000 miles a year stick with the petrol models and I’d avoid the complex automated manual gearboxes. The one thing that kills them is underbody rust, so get underneath for a good look before buying.

I know nothing about the cambelt set-up design of this engine but I would assume that it is at least as good and durable as that of our old Mk1 Ford Focus which, at around three times the age and mileage of the OP's much newer Volvo, has just gone to the scrapyard with its original cam and poly-v belts. The 1.6 Zetec set-up was designed to last the life of the engine, but cautious Ford advised a precautionary change at 10yrs and 100,000 miles - which I eschewed.
Advice on used Golf 2.0 TDI estate BlueMotion 15 plate 60k
I work in a community mental health team (UK) in a semi rural area and do a lot of driving, roughly 250 miles a week. Mainly 60 mph-roads but with some town driving and motorway driving. Also do an hour motorway driving about once or twice a month.
I’ve found a golf estate 2.0 BlueMotion 15 plate with 60k on the clock. Got full service history. New clutch and timing belt on the car from dealer . Plan to service every year with vw specialist. Willing to take it for blast on motorway more if required.
Wanting an estate as I’ve recently got a lab and want the added space.
I was wondering if this would be a good car for me? How reliable would this car be? Any issues I need to look out for? How long could this car last? Would anyone recommend for the job do?
I see golfs and passet with 2L on sale with over 100k on clock which is a good sign but 60k on clock and age maybe done short trips which could cause issues?
I’m also looking at Toyota 1.2t touring, aware that mpg won’t be as good, be I know Toyotas to be solid. Not that fussed about speed tbf. Just want something which runs. Can’t afford a hybrid Read more
The Toyota is likely to be more reliable that a Golf, and you will not have all the expense associated with a diesel
Hi all,
Just need some advise please. So last week we sold our late father's car as it wasn't being used. 4 lads came to view, test drove and wanted to buy it. It was late at night and they said they had get get back so didn't give any details for the v5 apart from name which I have from Facebook. Gave them new owners slip and they went on their way. Next day we called DVLA to say we didn't get the details so they said to write to them with the v5 and they will take my wife off the owner. A week later and we get a letter from and removal company because the car has been abandoned and they want £300 for us to get it back. ... Read more
That would be more trouble than it's worth I think. We have already written to the DVLA to get wife taken off the registration. Plus who knows what they did with it before they abandoned it.
Trouble is the DVLA will need to put someone down as the current keeper.
